Agreed, today is an important life lesson for you.

DO TRACK DAYS. If nothing else, you will learn that the real fun/challenge happens at 10/10ths, and that you just can't approach that level on the street.

On the street it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to do more than ~6-7/10ths. 8/10ths isn't really much more challenging than 6/10ths, the critical difference being that you give yourself much less margin for error.

And of course track experience will hone your responses and reflexes so that when something unexpected does happen you will be more likely to recover.
So true. I still find myself canyoning regularly, but I only go about 5/10ths, and even then, there are times where an unexpected obstacle or dirt/sand will cause the car to slide. Those are the times where I catch it, and every time, I know that had I not been to the track and learn how to catch the car, I would have spun and/or crashed.

If/when you do get another car, come join the S2K Challenge. We will teach you do drive the car at the limit

That car is a 100% write off. Dont think for a second they're going to save it. A damaged windshield frame and a mashed 1/4 panel is a guaranteed write off unless your car is only a couple years old (which it isnt) You've probably done 12+K in damage and thats if they would even allow for a repair after the structural integrity of the windshield frame has been compromised.

Congrats on surviving. This is my worst nightmare, its fairly easy to get carried away, I've scared myself a few times but nothing even close to an actual accident. Thats the problem with a car that will handle all kinds of G's in a corner, the second you break traction, you will lose control fast if you arent quick on the controls.

As for "track days", I hate to be the guy who says it, but if he did the same thing at a track day he would have written off his car without any coverage. I know insurance isnt supposed to subsidize your street racing, but I've seen people write off cars at the track and its painful to watch.

We had a young man new to the S2000 have two off's on our last mountain run. He did not flip the car but probably would have been seriously hurt had a guardrail not been in one of the corners. Luckily he only hurt his pride and fenders. This car is not a forgiving machine to the novice driver. Thank god you were not hurt or worse. Listen to the older/wiser men on here. Take the car to the track/autocross to learn the limits. Never exceed your skill level with any vehicle or this is bound to happen.

I flipped my '05 in '07, bent the windshield frame pretty badly and wrinkled almost every panel on the car. I went off the road downhill and landed on my top so there was absolutley no frame damage. The windshield frame is a multi-piece unit that goes all the way to the rocker panel and is a MAJOR bi**h to replace. The shop fixed mine, it was only 2 yo at the time, the damage was ~$12k. I purchased the replacement front bumper (ASM), fenders (Seibon), hood (Seibon) and Mugen top myself and did a turbo install when thay had it disassembled along w/the clutch and exhaust, it took 8 months to finish. If I had done it to an older car it would have been totaled. I'm glad it wasn't totaled, I feel it's more of a toy now that ALL the newness is gone and I've had it apart to the bones and know it inside out now. It still looks great, better than new actually, titles still clean and it only has 22k miles on it (bought new).

Very scary pictures, but hey, you're alive and mostly uninjured, and no other parties were involved. That's all you can ask for. As others have noted, Honda's safety standards were a saving grace here once again. The support the windshield frame provides is quite amazing. Surviving a convertible rollover crash is something to be very thankful for.

As others have mentioned, it's important for us to stay within certain limits outside of track driving. It's fun to drive hard, but it can lead to stuff like this.

Wow!!! Glad your safe and nobody else was hurt. A huge lesson learned for this incident. And as other members have already mentioned, keep it on the tracks or take it slow coming around mountains.

This reminds me of my 03 RSX-S which I put on its roof going too fast around a turn while it was 10 degrees outside. I learned my lesson, hopefully you learn yours. Look at it as though it happened for a reason. You get a second chance at life and be grateful you didn't hurt anyone.
