Not a hill or window problem and my car is also 2001 so not a year problem either.

I think it must be slightly twisted or the other possible problem is that the roof isn't closing enough. When I use the button to close it it seems to stop quite a way from the windscreen and needs a good pull to get the latches to be anywhere near the windscreen.

I think I may have contributed to the problem by always locking the RHS first, I'm now going to try and correct it by trying to lock the LHS first for a while. If this fails I'll be down the dealers asking for a warranty fix.

Cheers

I have exactly the same problem as you do on my 2001 model. This happens after I have had to deal with a release button on the boot which sticks and so I am already frustrated at this point. All I do is try to pull the top down firmly with the inside center top handle and in the direction I need to go to line up the hook with the other part on the windshield. Like some of the others, I plan to mention this to my dealer. With our crappy weather here recently on Ohio, I have started to drive around with the boot off because it is such a bitch to get on and off.

[B]Have this problem also, I remember someone telling me that driving for long periods at high speeds with the top down and no tonneau cover might deform the top structure a bit (wind turbulences). It is in fact harder to close it after 5-6hrs of highway driving.
I usually just pull a bit the roof

This exact problem has started to happen on my S2000 in the last 24 hours.

Up until then, I've had the car about a month, I haven't encountered any problem closing the latches. In fact I have been very impressed with the mechanism.

Then yesterday my wife couldn't close her catch. I noticed it was no longer aligned with the guide on the window. Since then it seems to happens everytime, in all situations. I say "seems" because I haven't been keeping a log of when it happens and in what situation.

My initial plan is to lubricate the whole mechanism then mentally log when it does/does not happen to see if there is a pattern. If I can't see anything in particular then it's back to the dealer.

Tony

P.S. I bought my S2000 second-hand and it was registered middle of last year.

There may be something caught in the mechanism, but I think it's shrinkage. I have not have had the roof raised much recently, & you really have to stretch the roof sometimes if you need to close it. If the roof is only open briefly, it closes much easier.

You just have to strain the roof motors & triceps a bit!

Anyone having trouble with the tonneau cover.
The back side constantly pops out , the two little black plastic piece don't seem to stay in. I'm wondering if I'm installing it incorrectly or is this a wide speard problem due to poor design.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's what I keep telling all the girls... "It's shrinkage!"
