I only noticed the tight fit problem when I first picked mine (6/2001) up from the dealer, but the top had been down for a while. Now that it is up at night and down during the day it seems ok. I think the top does relax a bit when it is down for long periods of time. On mine it is easier if right side latches first and then I do have to pull a little on the center handle to get the drivers side locked. It is not a struggle though or I would take it to the dealer.

I had this problem with other cars with rag tops years ago, I used to get whiplash when I would leave my top down for days on end, so it isn't new to me.

If it is always tight even when the top is up for a while take it to the dealer. I mentioned it to my dealer but they didn't want to deal with it so I hope you have more luck. Fortunately mine got better as time went on.

Good luck and keep us posted how the dealer handles it if you take it in.

I have had a problem getting the top open a few times, but never really a problem getting it closed. What I have found that works the best is to close both sided at the same time. Unlatch both handles them pull the hooks into place and latch together.

Well, I am reviving an old topic...............but this morning I tried to close the top on our White S2K and just couldn't get the hooks into the latches. After some effort, almost laying on the roof I got the right side closed but couldn't do the left side.

Called the dealer and they said "Bring it in, we'll show you how to close it." I said O.K. and it was humorous to see them try to close the top. Anyway, left the car for them to work on the top.

Yes, we left the top down for many days....but the top has always been tough to close even from day 1...but not this tough! This morning the top stopped a good 1" from the windshield. I thought after some time it would work better...but I'm wrong.

Hopefully just a top adjustment.

Thanks for listening,

Barry
