Rough shifting
I just got my car for a week and love every minute I get on the wheel. I have no complaints at all. But today, I decided to go to work on my wife's Civic, and all of a sudden I feel that shifting gears is ultra smooth in the Civic.
Never felt it that way, until I spent a week and 900 miles in the Stook.
I later went to try the Stook and actually felt a big difference. Although precise, it is a little hard to shift, and sometimes, specially from 1st to 2nd, you feel a soft metallic sound (or feel). I'm not talking about the loud metallic sound produced by shifting (or at least attempting to shift) without pressing on the clutch.
I also noticed that it improves when the car is warm.
Just in case: yes, I am fully depressing the clutch; and yes, I know how to drive a stick (that's the only thing I've ever driven, except for the occasional rentals that are all automatics).
This is my first sports car so I don't know the way the clutch and transmission are supposed to be or feel. Is that normal in the Stook?

could be a few things.
1) direct link transmission and the fact that we are sitting right up over it doesn't help the noise and smoothness factors.
2) could be a 1-2 shift issue if your car is a Y2000 model.
Mine does it sometimes, but I am uncertain which reason above it is. They just finished doing my TSB055 "1-2 grind" fix, but since its been raining, I have not picked my car up yet. (yes, I actually have a trusted Honda dealer 60 miles away ...but I had them raise my car up on a rack anyways...just in case)

I drive a Civic to work daily, so I'm constantly changing between it and the S2000. The Civic has a pretty lazy gearbox in comparison, so you'll always notice a difference. When the S2000 is cold, I've always had kind of a notch between first and second. Very slight, but noticable. Goes away after the car warms up. Also, as I've added more mileage to the car it isn't as bad. I don't think there is anything wrong with your S2000.
I think what you are feeling is perfectly normal. We all discussed this at great length last year. It is seperate from the 1-2 grind, and was best described as "holding a pipe and touching it to a spinning grinder for .0005 seconds" I've noticed it is better once you have the gearbox up to temp. Occasionally when cold I used to "double clutch" to solve the problem. I hardly notice it any more.
