RSX or S2000?
Get the car you really want. I had a Miata halfway through college and got to hear how impractical the car was from everyone. Guess what, I had nothing but fun in that car and that's what counts. When you need to move, rent a U-Haul and move. That's what I did. I never needed more trunk than to carry one suitcase and a duffle bag. If you're single and don't pack like a woman, the S has more than adequate trunk space. I'm actually spoiled with all the trunk space my new S has. I'm used to a Miata's a trunk, which was alot smaller.
I'm not saying to get the S2000, I'm just saying not to pass up an S2000 because you're thinking it won't be practical. Neither one of them is going to be good in the snow. I bought my Miata in NJ, but went to college in FL, so snow was not a factor. It never saw snow over the course of my ownership.

If I were 19 and know what I do now, I'd get the RSX. I had a Civic S in 1983 at 19, and it was fun when it needed to be, and could haul damn near anything, not the least of which was three other people.
Oh, and it's big enough to sleep in, I did that more than once.
Get whatever completely impractical car passes for amazing transportation later. There will be times when you and three friends just NEED to go skiing, and you're the only way there. And it's not as if you're giving up much via the RSX.
Every time I see one of those RSX type S's, I wish I had one. I'd look silly driving one around these days though, and today I get the S. It's almost seasonal -- drive the right car for the right season.
Build out that RSX and you'll be able to smoke some 2k's as well - nothing wrong with teaching the complacent a lesson. Do get the stick, though. Same tranny internals as the s2k I hear.

although, when you're at a college like mine (ucsb), you don't drive your car as much (i rarely use it....i don't go on ski trips and what not, the beach, parties, and everything are walking / biking distance). so the s is like a weekend car for me...even less than that since i don't drive it on the weekends too.
insurance is killer, but my dad got a good deal (we have 6 cars in the family). forgot what the deal was and it was with 21st.
as for the pros and cons overall, just get the rsx type s, you'll definately have more fun with it...
i was going to get one, but my dad doesn't get that Acura is the same thing (almost) as Honda...in terms of reliability, even though they have the same engines.
oh well. : perhaps i'll sell the s and get an rsx during the summer.

Almost bought an RSX-S last year as my college car, but I didn't.
I'm in love with an S2000. I don't care how impractical it is. If I need to road trip, I'll be a passenger, and if I need to haul shit, I've got good friends.
S all the way!!!
