Default Rubber Seal Maintenance..

I know this issue has been discussed thousand times on this board
but I could not find info other than applying shin-etsu grease after research on the board.
and the shin-etsu trick did not really work on mine...

I got some wind noise while my soft top is up...
After comparing the rubber seal on top of the windshield from another S,
my rubber strip is lower than the front end of the soft top.
I believe that is where the noise is coming from...

I tried to apply some shinetsu grease on the rubber seal,
It did soften the rubber seal, but did not get it 2mm higher than it is right now.

I remember I have seen someone on this board insert a small tube or small rubber rod inside the rubber seal to keep it in shape when top is up.
but I could not find that post anymore...

Can somebody help me out?
Has anybody ever done this trick before?

Thanks a lot

Lube the seals with shinetsu then swap the soft top catches from side to side. Its a simple job. 9 times out of ten this will work and sort the wind noise.

You can also shim the striker plates to make them lower, place some 'fish tank tubing' over the striker pins to pull the top lower too.. Failing that buy some new hardtop strikers-they are stronger and fit the soft top no problem. They are pretty cheap to buy from Honda Dealers and even cheaper from Hardtop guy in the USA,check on shipping though wherever you are..

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for the input,

I have hardtop... so I already got hardtop striker installed.
I have bigger problem when my hardtop is on, and I found the manual to do the adjustment for the hardtop and will try it later on.

The trick of placing fish tank tubing over the hook has been tried as well,
It did make the roof tighter, but the front end of the softtop is still higher than the rubber seal, so the wind noise is still there.

I will try to switch the soft top catches to see if it works,
Thanks a lot.
