Wait a minute. You were doing 85 on a regular street?? What speed did the police officer write you up at? Youre lucky the officer ruined your day instead of a telephone pole or another car. He probably saved your worthless life!

Speed limits around here on regular roads are 35MPH. You claim to have been doing 85, that's 50MPH over our speed limit! If you get busted for doing that, they'll toss your ass in jail with no questions asked!

85MPH.. wtf were you thinking? Plead guilty since you've already confessed on the internet. I'm sure if someone out there were offended enough, they could easily direct the local authorities to this thread..

For everyone else who is so quick to flame bruceleeroy, he is complaining that the police are accusing him of illegal speeds without proof. NOT because he got caught

Bruceleeroy,
This car attracts attention, good and bad. Go to court, if the cop even shows, his lack of evidence will reduce/erase the ticket.

I agree. We all speed. Go look at the threads discussing top speeds people have reached.

What percentage of people in criminal trials flat out plead guilty, even if they committed the crime? Not many. In our legal system, there is nothing wrong with looking out for your best interest.

However, I'd stop going 85 on surface streets.

How bad is the ticket? What was teh limit, and what speed does the ticket say you are going? I'd show up to court. If the cop shows up, at least try to talk it down to a lesser violation.

Thanks for the comments... the limit is 45.. however.. he posted 2 different speeds... he states i was going approx. 75.. and then 85.. how would he know this without 1. a radar.. 2. pacing ? Yeah.. I guess the nature of the car is quick to catch the eye of all different types of spectators.. beautiful women.. and even POLICIA!! but in all seriousness.. I needed that reality check from the cops.. but the urges... of this car.. are immense.. i mean i drove a bucket before this car.. and I consider the s2k a benchmark for car.. other than what other people consider.. this CAR IS A BEAST!!!.. and sometimes the beast needs to be unleashed.. but like they say a time and place for everything.. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INPUTS

Hold up. So some of you are saying that it's okay to go 85 on local streets?? It's allright to be doing 40MPH over the limit on local roads??? Telephone poles, trees, rodents, loose pavement, puddles, OTHER CARS?? Are you serious??

I know I'm no saint, and I often disobey speed limits on highways, but c'mon, 85 on a regular road is just plain dumb. One wrong move and he'll be lucky if he only kills himself. It'd be a pretty ed up horror show if he runs into another car and takes out someone you know.

For everyone else who is so quick to flame bruceleeroy, he is complaining that the police are accusing him of illegal speeds without proof. NOT because he got caught
Dude, c'mon. He admitted that he was doing 85 on a local road. He got busted, cops estimate was pretty much dead on. Usually the officers word is almost as strong as a radar gun read out.

You know what, it. Go to court and lie your goddamned ass off. That's what you should do.. Hell, looks like that's the general concensus on this thread wants you to do, so do it.

You've got a great case. Call it profiling. Call it economic profiling. You drive an expensive car that looks fast so this back country roscoe boss hog alligator wrestlin son of a bitch decided to nab you and make you wish you drove an escort. So he lied when he wrote you the ticket and you were really only doing 43 on your way to bring your old grammy some vittles.

Shit, the judge may even get a kick out of it and just hit you with a fine w/o points!

In all seriousness, if you do try to defeat this or challenge this, get yourself a good lawyer. Be prepared to shell out some serious cash. If the ticket states that you were "racing", "exhibition of speed" or "agressive driving", be prepared. Research what each of these terms mean and how to fight them. Worst case scenario, you may be able to get off with 30 day suspension of license, $X in fines, ~$1000 in lawyer and court fees, and if youre really unlucky you maybe looking at a few nights in jail. BUT, considering that the officer didnt draw his weapon, make you drop the keys on the pavement, make you walk backwards slowly towards his voice with your hands where he can see them, tackle you and slap cuffs around your bony wrists, I'd say you're in pretty good shape.

Have your attorney plea bargain the hell out of the DA. Get a good lawyer how knows how to interpret and bend the law. Make sure he knows the difference between racing and casual speeding. If you get off with a fine and community service, go for it. Just stay away from the points and the pen. Those will haunt you later in life.

But seriously.. keep it down on local streets. I've had enough of all the "RIP XXXX" threads that have been popping up recently around here.

That's why I autocross!

I'll admit what others might not...I was stupid with a car when I was young too. What we're trying to tell you is we survived and realize how stupid we were. We're just trying to help you survive too.
