Default Rust on the drivers door under the window seal

Hi

I bought an s2000 a couple of weeks back, 02 model 65000 miles. I've been feeling really pleased with myself for finding such an immaculate example for a decent price. But I today saw a bit of brown under the black window seal on the top left of the drivers door as you look at it (RHD). On pushing back the seal it turned out to be a strip of rust about 15mm long and appears to have been caused by the rubbing of the sealing strip on the paintwork caused by many opening and closings of the door.

I was in Avondale Honda Coventry today who said they hadn't seen it before and they checked another 02 plate that was in there but that was clear of rust.

I've checked the passenger side and that hasn't gone yet but it's only a matter of time. I can see the paint has rubbed away a bit.

Anyone else come accross this?

I've bought a touch up pot from Honda but I don't really want to do this myself. Anyone any ideas of cost?

If I do try myself anyone know how to remove the black window seal? It's the one that runs from the side mirror externally along the top of the door

I've searched for other threads but found nothing

thanks

Thanks

Haven't heard of this, but anything is possible with rust. You should be able to give it a wet sand and use the touch up paint. I would imagine the issue is if there is rust anywhere else on the vehicle that you don't see.
