Smile Rust Spot by Passenger Door...

I just noticed a small rust spot by the passenger door. It's sort of by the convertable top but on the door ledge. Has anyone else had this problem? I live in Florida and the car was purchased here so I find it abnormal.

So what's my next step? How much is it going to cost?

Thanks..

There is a pen that you can use to rub the rust off and then use touch up paint. The pen has a tip made up of plastic like filaments, they act like sandpaper, by rubbing off the rust. I think you can get it at a paint supply store or major hardware store.

Be forewarned that the Silverstone and Sebring silver touch-up paint seems to RARELY match. You may want to get a bottle of it and try it somewhere that's not noticeable.

Was this car purchased from a dealer? I'd take it back to them. Rust doesn't show up overnight.

i think the warranty is a RUST THROUGH, not a NO RUST.

also, i don't think it covers areas with scrathed paint.

and, actually, rust can show up overnight

It does work pretty well. Try not to get the surrounding paint.

Then just use touch up paint. You have to get up close to notice where the touch paint is.

I believe it's actually against rust through from the underside. If it rusts through from the outside, I believe it's your problem.

After looking at it up closer (It's been raining like crazy here in FL) I noticed it's a small crack in the body. I'll take a picture and post it ASAP. Hopefully tonight. I would suggest everyone to take a look at their car. It can be easily missed. It looks like it was caused by top going up and down. Or body roll. It happed by a natural cause. I'm going to get it checked this weekend to see what I should do.
