Default Rust, when does it become an issue?

I took my car to the honda dealership today and we threw it up on the lift and we noticed theres some rust under some of the rubber boots. i live in Cali but the previous owner may have been by the beach or somethin, idk. He told me not to worry about it because theres not much i can really do, and hes probably right i shouldn't worry about it lol but is there any real problems? will it get any worse? im in souther cali... should i do anything to prevent/remove it?? i dont have access to a lift or anything like that... thanks guys!

will it get worse ? yes
Rust always gets worse, but without a better description or pictures its hard to say if its worth worrying about, rust is a part of cars, always will be to some extent.
If you are worried about it, time to get under there and clean it up and primer it and paint over the rust.

I imagine you have nothing to worry about. alittle surface rust never hurt anything.. if you really want, you can remove and paint the rusted parts with POR 15.. this can be sprayed right over the rust and will stop it 'forever'.

http://www.por15.com/

You should be also able to get it from some auto stores... possibly Napa, and any bodyshop supply companies around you should be able to get it aswell.

Its decently expensive, but its pretty much the best stuff out there.

I would run away from POR

Take a look at Eastwood's rust treatments at
http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemTyp...GORY&itemID=372

and I would use their rubberized undercoating if I was worried about it.

But as I said in my first post, I would not worry about it and enjoy the car.
