Keep in mind rumors are now saying 2800 lbs for the cars weight. It has a carbon fiber drive shaft and the engine weighs....270 lbs. Yes thats right, 270 lbs and its the same size as the 6 speed tranny.
They are also going to introduce the 2 door for the next model year. Also, sources close to mazda say that mazda has the blue-print for the next rx7 with a larger displacement N/A rotary. rumors are 320 HP 1.4 liter n/a rotary. we will see.

I think it is cool as hell! I would love to have one. I think it would make a killer daily driver. A black one would look very cool in my garage next to the S2000.
Hopefully, If I have a good year, I just may get one.

Yes, Motor Trend had a First Look on it and said that if the RX-8 is successful, they will most likely introduce a 2-seater version as a new-gen RX-7. The article overall was pretty lukewarm, but for some reason, these magazine guys seem to be very enamored of the Nissan 350Z.
I drove a G35 coupe and those cars have some nice engines. That along with the cost make the Z very attractive. I wonder what those extra 7 hp and less weight would be like. I was very impressed with the interior of the G35, less so with the Z. I would get a G35 and put a Supercharger on it and get that HP to over 400. That would be kick azz.

Mazda has said from day 1 that the RX8 is not a replacement for the RX7.
Where are you getting your info. on the next gen. RX-7 94rexsf? I was always a big fan of the FD-3's & would be very interested in the next gen. RX-7 if Mazda decides to bring it back to the states. Do you have any spy pics? Thanks
