Talking rx8 to a s2000?

hey there,
i've been driving my 2004 rx-8 6spd for about 1 year now and really don't feel a sense of sportiness that i think i should. i've been looking at other cars such as sti, evo, 350z, and g35 but the s2000 appeals to me the most since it's convertible and it would be great to slice and dice through corners with the top open.

can anyone tell me if the s2000 is really an increase performance-wise against the rx-8? is the s2000 more responsive around corners and quicker in straightways than the rx-8 by a considerable amount or am i better off just sticking the the 8 for the extra two seats? o_O i really use the extra seating the rx-8 but i am willing to sacifice it for sheer sportiness and all around fun

post your thoughts! thanks!

awww the phrase "slice and dice" leads me to say "S2000 is for you"...though i've never driven or been in an RX-8 to say, but S2000 should be slightly quicker in accel and turning.

Ah who cares about the extra 2 seats. This car is for you to drive, not to taxi your friends around!!

Get the S!!

The S2000 will out perform a RX8 in everything. All that the S2000 really lacks in is a good stereo... an easy fix!

alot of rx-8 owners are happy with the rx-8 but i just feel that i'm missing out on the real fun of owning a roadster

the rx-8 is great for people who want to go places in style but the s2000 is definitley just as sexy plus i'm sure it would be more of a gripping experience than the 8 can deliver with its lighter curb weight, slimmer framework, and higher torque

is there anyone who has driven both the 8 and s2000 aggressivley enough to honestly compare the two cars?

oyah how is the gas mileage *grin* the 8 is always thirsty so i'm looking forward to better gas mileage...

My buddy has an rx-8 and I've driven it a few times.

I'd say the handling is the same.

Shifter feel - the rx-8 is really nice, but the s2000 is nicer.

The s2000 is faster in straight line. It definitely pulls harder. It's not a huge difference, but it's there, for sure.

Gas mileage, I average 21 MPG, about 1/2 highway and around town driving.

Oil usage - I've added 1/2 quart total in 10,000 miles (oil changes every 3750 miles).

Go for the S2000, you won't regret it.

Cool

so most dealers accept trade-ins? because i want to trade my 2004 rx8 for a used 2000-2003 honda s2000

just wonderin' if that's possible usually since i'm kinda a nub with dealerships

also do you guys think insurance would rise considerably more with the s2000 over the rx8 even though the s2000 probably has 30k+ miles and the 8 only about 10k?

thanks for the feedback! really hoping that things work out and i get me a s2000

Hmm I don't know....I have driven extensively both the 192hp RX8 and the 231hp RX8 (both available in Greece at way lower prices than the S) and I own a 2002 f/l S2K and I don't think they are easy to compare...The RX8 is sophisticated, quiet, loaded with room and extras and a very forgiving handling which you can exploit all day long (I' ve been owning/upgrading/exploiting MX5s for 11 years and I can tell you the RX8 feels very simmilar in the handling section). The S2K is cramped, noisy, with high levels of grip but once you go past them it is tricky unless you know what you are doing. On the other hand the RX8 is too soft, consumes considerable amounts of fuel and oil and is a coupe whereas the S2K is firm (slightly on the hard side), with a sporty feel, revs hard all day up to the indicated 9500 rpm/limit with an impressingly low consumption plus its a roadster with killer looks. If you want your car for sheer enjoyment and are ready to live with lack of space and abundance of noise go for the S, if you like to travel fast and quiet, need room and like to abuse your car with ease and comfort stick with the RX8. I would not trade my brand new RX8 for an older model S2K unless it was a super deal!! My oppinion!!
