so most dealers accept trade-ins? because i want to trade my 2004 rx8 for a used 2000-2003 honda s2000

just wonderin' if that's possible usually since i'm kinda a nub with dealerships

also do you guys think insurance would rise considerably more with the s2000 over the rx8 even though the s2000 probably has 30k+ miles and the 8 only about 10k?

thanks for the feedback! really hoping that things work out and i get me a s2000
the fact that S2000 is TWO seater CONVERTIBLE
i think ur insurance rate will be increased than with four seater four door coupe RX-8 i think....

I had my RX8 for a whopping 2 months before I traded it in on my S2K. Wouldn't go back. I'm a national level autocrosser and have flogged both cars HARD (well, not this S2K, but all four that I had previous to this one). The 8 is softer and a bit heavier and you *can* feel it. Still a great handling car, similar power band.

The older 2.0L S2K's typically are less forgiving at the limits of traction than the '04+ 2.2L cars - slightly different suspension. So keep that in mind... you'll see lots of stories on this board of people spinning out as a result.

But I, also, will not look back. Ever... I don't regret the decision for a moment!

I wouldn't say there is a real performance increase going from an RX to an S, but if you want a convertible, the switch would be painless. Both cars have similar stats, similar torque, and hi-rpm engines. Since a convertible RX is still under wraps, the S would be a good way to go - its the way I went, and I'm happy with my S.

Bro I know exactly what you are going through, I was just in the car buying stage for a few weeks and didnt know whether to get an rx-8, g35 coupe, M roadster, or an S2k. i test drove all of them and loved the Rx-8 It felt very responsive and was extremely fun to rev with that exhilarating Renisis engine that immidiatly put a smile on my face. In fact I was actualy about to walk away with one at the dealer if not for its low end torque and imho sketchy styling. I just picked up an S yesterday and I have to say, the two cars are fairly different. In the S2k you feel go kart-like steering and shifting and the most fun you will ever have with 6 gears. My last car was a Vr-4 and i thought that was a blast to drive, until I started going around turns at 80+ mph with the car screaming for more. Going fast on the highway with the top down is also a priceless moment I say get an S2k asap...just my 2 cents

I have fair amount of seat time with RX8 since one of my good friend owns one.

I am impressed with the car. It is refined, handles great and power is usuable but not overly impressive. Loved the sound of Renesis engine too. Only gripe I had with the car was steering feel. It wasn't as communicative as S2000s. Besides that, I think you are looking at two different cars in terms of usuability.

I believe one can drive around RX8 all year long without much difficulties since it offers traction control and roomy interior compared to S2000 but with S2000 you will have to be very careful especially on bad weather day.

On a track, given two equally matched driver, S2000 will do well over RX8. RX8 had softer suspension feel than S2000 but much forgiving on rough roads than S2000 as well.

If I was in the market again and looking at both cars, it would be a tough choice but, I believe I would choose S2000 again for the sheer fact that Honda is racing company who has pronounced presence in F1 racings and others on top of that proven reliability will influence me again.
