If you think its an apples and oranges comparison, I don't think you get the comparison. We're talking about how Honda can offer different models at different prices even though some models like the CR-V come with a bunch more equipment for less.
It's still not a fair comparison b/c of the intangibles (some of which other people have mentioned). Also, a loaded CRV is more than $22,000.

Other S2000 features not mentioned that probably adds to it's cost are:

Light weight hood
LSD
Light weight 17" Wheels x two different sizes.
Performance Tires x two different sizes
Short Shifter
Dual Exhaust
Convertible Top
HID
etc...

I remember when I was back in school a Transportation Logistics prof was so happy that he had bought this loaded Chevy. It had p/w, p/l, a/c, stereo, alloy wheels, V6 engine, etc... for $20,000. He was so proud of that car. He could get all that in a Buick or Cadillac too, but it would cost him $35,000+ (even if they are based on the same platform).

In terms of Bang for the Buck, it's definitely not going to be the S2000.

hmmm... i guess replacing the whole soft top, along with the elastic straps on the new top and the clutchmaster cylinder and the interior dash all before 32k miles is a characteristic of that honda bulletproof fit and finish

Ok thought I add my 2 cent to this debate. Why are we complaining about a low to mid 30K Honda sports car when there were people out there buying another Honda before the S2K's time for a low price of 80-90K? I bet we all know which car that is (250hp-292hp depending on model and year). So why complain about an exclusive car that stands out from the rest? If you want to ask yourselves why pay the premium then you don't deserve to drive an S, go buy your civics, accords, cr-vs or whatever car you think is worth your money

A lot of Hondas are built in OH too, not all come from Kanuhduh (that's the big state on top). BTW, grow a thick skin if you plan on posting a lot, people here just love to tell you how much more they know then you!

the dealership usually displays where the car is assembled or imported from on the vehicle description paper, no? im talking about that piece of paper that's usually taped on one of the car windows.

Go visit a local dealership. If I remember correctly, all S2000s are 100% built in Japan and imported to the U.S.
