S2000 or 1994 Rx-7
I know this is a stupid question to be asking on a S2000 board, but Im a little undecided about whether or not I want a faster car being the RX-7, which is not as reliable, and without warranty. Or a more reliable car, with warrantly, which aint much slower than the RX-7. Money not being much that big of a deal .Any thoughts?
If money isn't an issue, then you can get the RX7 fixed if you have a problem. So it boils down to whether you want a convertible or hard top. Also test drive and see which you like best. Don't base what you buy on whether a car is fast or not- you wanna drive a car and see if you want it.

Isn't even a very low mileage 1992 RX7 a lot cheaper than a S2000?
I looked at RX7 prices here and these cars seem to really cheap.
Look at this 1995 350hp Biturbo with 25000miles for about $22k:

Here's a pic -
.
This car will be a lot quicker than a S2000 as it sounds.
The owner says he imported from the US so I thought a RX7 should be quite cheap in the US too.
If you want a quick drag car for cheap, get a RX7.
If money really isn't an issue, get a McLaren

From what I know of those rotary engines, even with moderate/conservative driving the engines had to be replaced around 30K miles. Maintenance on this critical. I'd shy away for that reason but than again if money is no object, get the RX7 and dump money into it like theres no tomorrow.
Sorry, I was under the impression it had to be. Something I heard about the inefficient cooling system coupled with the rotarys tendancy to run hot. Most people tried to have the engine replaced while there cars are still under warranty, but obviously any RX-7 wont be under warranty anymore.

It wasn't the cooling system, it was the plastic reservoir. Replacing it with a metal unit is easy and overheating isn't a big issue (but Rotary engines do run hot normally). As GS mentioned, it was the apex seals that were weak (when modded).
The problem with the 3rd gen RX-7's is that they are truly shit. This is coming from a guy that LOVES them, but they are a waste of the name Mazda...JUNK, plain and simple. You don't even want to know how many service bulletin's were issued on them for the 3 years they were here.
Having said that, the car is way beyond the performance of an S2K, and EVERYTHING else as well, a well modded RX-7 truly has few equals...and I don't care what kind of Porsche or Ferrari someone has, this car is hella-fast with a few simple mods.
RX-7 = Performance on a world class level, or parked.
S2K = Excellent performance and the quality to back it up...all day long.

He He!, I cant afford both. I wish.
Well as far as a topless or not, I live in NJ, so the winters are probably not so much fun with the s2k.
I really have no idea how the RX-7 preforms , Ive driven a Honda S2000, and it is pretty awesome.
But Ive heard the RX-7 is an incredible machine.
Being that this is going to be my only driver, I dont want to be stuck taking the train, while my car sits in the garage getting work done. Im just a worry wart when it comes to car problems.
I think id be a lot more comfortable driving a s2000 under warranty.
But then again, I would love to drive a beast like the RX-7 around town.
Damn here I go again, im not good with making decision's like this.
I should just get a Hyundai. yeah right.
I work my ass at my job, I want a trophy to show for that work.
S2k's are going down in price now thats its getting closer to winter, maybe I can get one at a decent price.
