Default S2000

My wife and I have AAA insurance. Just the two of us, her accord and my S2000...it's all bundled in with our home owner's insurance, so we get nice discounts.

Anyway, today I sold my 350z. So my new policy is:
House, Accord, S2000

old Policy was:
House, Accord, 350Z

Insurance went down 700 bucks a year. I was expecting it to go up a little if anything. Both cars have roughly the same blue book value.

Anybody have a similar or dissimilar experiencing when switching?

Struck me as odd. Pleasant...but odd.

Insurance rates depend on too many variables to compare person to person, but I have a little input.

When I was looking for a new (used) car, I checked out what the rate increases/decreases would be for me in replacing my '07 VW GTI via Progressive's website. They let you mock add/drop/replace a vehicle on your policy and show you the net $ +/-.

I looked at:
-S2000
-350Z vert
-BMW Z4 3.0i
-Porsche Boxster (non-S)

and threw in for the hell of it, due to things I've heard about insurance rates on them:
-EVO
-STI

These were all priced at around a 5 year old model year, and no matter which car I "replaced" the GTI with my insurance went up or down about $100 a year. No big deal if you ask me.

With my S2000, I saved about $40 a year over the GTI.

yeah...that's kind of what i was expecting. an increase / decrease of maybe 50 bucks a year. But going down 700 bucks!?!?!?

...and it wasn't even that expensive to begin with. I feel like it's too good to be true. But I asked her questions point blank.

Maybe I'm just too skeptical about everything.

The S2000 is one of the most expensive cars to insure. The Evo and STI are in the same league.

FWIW I got a quote from my insurance company for replacing my S with a 2007 Z06 - same company, same coverages, same deductible, same me - $30/MO LESS THAN MY 2005 S2000.

I have great credit, NO (ZERO) accidents/tickets or claims and STILL pay out the ass. Thanks to idiotic ricers that steal our seats in central and south Florida when I moved to here from TX my insurance went up another 30% or so. Its such BS.

My 370z is about $400 a year cheaper than my 02 S was.

When I was buying insurance I was toying around with putting my mother as the primary driver of my S2000 and myself as the primary of the minivan. Keep in mind when I got these quotes it was over the phone, so none of that "internet quoting" which is only good if you want a ballpark figure that is 99% of the time marked up. To my amazement, they wanted an additional $200 to insure me as the primary driver on the on the minivan.

that is really weird. I don't understand how mine went down so much. Now the question is...do I leave well enough alone...and wait for them to correct their mistake?

Over the phone the lady just kept saying "05 Honda"...I had to make her specify that it was an S2000 because I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.
