Default S2000 Blindspot with Top up?

Sometimes i'm afraid to drive with the top up because of the blindspots, what are people using to take care of this? Thanks in advance.

Search the FAQs for a fix on the driver's side mirror to allow it to tilt out farther. This might help cover the blind spot. I use a whole lot of body movement to have a look into the driver's side blind spot. Another solution is to get into the left lane and stay there so you don't have to merge left.

I just do a head turn to check what's on my left. Unfortunately, I tend to hit my head on the window if its up. Tres embarrassing

You will get used to the blind spot in a few weeks. Just takes some time.

The only blindspot I'm afraid of is when I'm backing up. You can't see anything out of that little back window.

I'm blind in my left eye (have been since birth) so let me tell you about blind spots!

Seriously though, the S does have a pretty good blind spot on both sides where the canvas top exists and there is no window. The roll hoops and high seatbacks don't help (although for crash safety reasons I wouldn't get rid of those roll hoops for nuthin).

I use a combination of the tips that have been presented here. I make best efforts to get into the left lane ASAP to minimize my lane changes. I also use a ton of body movement and make sure that whenever possible, I accelerate when making lane changes (old habit from riding motorcycles).

The S isn't as bad as most convertibles but isn't as good as most coupes. Truth be told, it's yet another reason to keep the top where it belongs (stowed) invest in a good jacket and hat and learn to enjoy the joy of driving al fresco in all but the worst weather.

The worst problem is if you have to park in an angled parking place like this on the left side of the road ///////. This is especially a problem if a Navigator is parked beside you. The only plus is that the rear of our cars is pretty short, so when you inch out into the road, folks can dodge you pretty easy.

Just my own "fix" that others may not like but I bought one of those little convex mirrors that stick onto the regular mirror. Yeah, it looks hokey but it works. To help minimize the size and maximize the effect, I got one of the rectangular ones that has a pretty steep "ramp" built into the base so it shows you more of what's beside you than the round ones which give you a nice shot of your side panels. I think I got it at Target for about $3.

Of course, with the top down, there's no need...

I too invested $2.79 at AutoZone for a small tilted, convex mirror to place on the outside of my driver' mirror. I especially like the one I got because it can pivot/spin 360 degrees.

That way, if you like the tilt to angle out or in, all you have to do is spin it. That ability helped me because I was concerned about sticking it on my mirror in the wrong direction, thereby being screwed. But, no...I can turn it.

BTW, I got the idea from a few Boxster guys I know. Many Boxster owners install them on their cars as well. We are not alone and putting a $2.79 mirror on a $50,000+ car doesn't bother them, why should it bother us?

Is the left side blind spot worst than the right side blind spot? I was planning on purchasing a 2002 s2k and I was worried about there being a big blind spot on the right side. Are the blind spots on the 2002 bigger than on a 2001?
