No the blindspots on the '02 are no different from the '01. Trust me, I've owned both. However, visibility is changed. Clarity is better (thank God for the glass), but the range of sight suffers (smaller window).

I, too , have purchased and installed a small rectangular convex mirror for the drivers side. It really doesn't look bad and I have placed in the lower right portion of the mirror (closest to the drivers door). It totally eliminates the blind spot and the "cosmetic" risk is worth the "sheet metal" risk.

Regards

Bruce

That's why they invented SHOULDER CHECKING!!! If you just move your head a little when changing lanes, the blind-spot is nearly a non-issue.

Immediately after getting my S2000, I too found the blind
spot hard to live with. I thought about doing the mod in
this FAQ:
https://www.s2ki.com/faqs/showfaq.php?threadid=17427
but decided to try one of those little stick-on mirrors.

Well, after about a year of trying to live with that solution,
it finally came to me - if only I could replace the driver's mirror
with the passenger's mirror!

It's convex so "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear".

But the mirrors are not symmetric so I need one that's reversed.

A RHD car (say from Australia, Japan or the UK) might just
have the convex mirror on the LEFT. If that's true, maybe it
would fit our USA LHD cars and eliminate, or at least reduce, the
blind spot.

What about it friends - do you have the convex mirrors on the
left? If so, what do they cost and how would I order one?

I've never found the blindspots to be that troublesome. I'm just really careful when backing up and making lane changes and I avoid making sudden moves in traffic. Taking your time and surveying the situation is the key.

Otherwise, get yourself those little sticky-mirrors at Pepboys.

Like any other convertible, there are blind spots on both rear sides. The hardtop doesn't help too much. Remember the round port holes in the old (and new) T-Birds. The original intent was to give at least a glimpse in the blind area; instead it became a style thing. Just have to be careful.

when backing up, you just can't help but do it like grandma. but when driving forward, the best strategy is to be faster than every other car so nothing in your blind spots will be fast enough to cause you any trouble

Living on a cul-de-sac with lots of little kids around has trained me to be extremely careful when backing out of my driveway. This has even become more important since the S2000 came into my life. That practice and awareness is now routine wherever I am.

As far as the side blind spots, you just have to use that wonderful swivel that your head's mounted on.
