S2000/BoxsterS comparision
From a collector's perspective, it'll be interesting to see how the market treats the Boxster over time.
If history is any indication, entry-level Porsches like the Boxster lose far more of their original value than the 911. For example, check out the residual value percentages of 912s/914s/924s/944s vs. 911s of the same model years. Not pretty! This is because the 911 is the standard bearer of the marque and the entry models come and go.
Simply put, I would never be interested in a Boxster because Porsche = 911.
Noone knows how the S2000 will hold its value over time. If the NSX is any indication, probably not well. However, the S2000 is an automotive engineering benchmark for the turn of the century which may bode well for its collector value.
Only time will tell...
