S2000 Brakes saved me from Fatal Accident
OK,
So im driving home from a long long unnecessarily long friday at work
top down of course (beautiful day out)
went thru downtown tunnel coming from portsmouth
im in the 2nd lane from the left going about 65 toward va beach on i-264 East
i see some chick in a gold car hauling ass in the all the way right lane
going maybe 85 or maybe 90
i switch lanes to the next right lane and im in between 2 trucks
and not even 10 seconds later out of nowhere!
the same chick comes speeding and screeching tires across ALL of the lanes to the left towards the barrier
i pushed the brake hard as hell i was very very close to hitting her
drivers side rear of the car and the truck to the left hit her rear and stopped
and if i would of it would have been a very very bad day for me
probably would have spun out and got hit a couple times in convertible mode = very bad
but it scared the living crap out of me
didn't stop to check if she was ok but i saw that there
was already police pulling up to her shortly after
be careful out there!
check tire pressures, don't get distracted while driving, watch your speed
and always be alert!

WOW!!!
I had a similar instance a few months ago coming home from work on the highway - some car tried to merge into the side of a Camry, and the Camry owner jerked the wheel to the left and started spinning out during Friday rush hour. I was behind the Camry, quickly downshifted from 6th to 3rd and slammed on the brakes. I was maybe 2 feet from plowing into the side of the sideways Camry - my heart stopped and I was silent for probably 5 minutes after the incident and when it caught up to me I started freaking out
Luckily, everyone was able to swerve out of the way and NOTHING seemed to have been hit - I think Jesus was riding shotgun in that Camry that day

Here's my story from last week:
I'm going to the gym. It's about 4:50 AM. I'm on the eastbound 210 transition road where it merges with the 134, two lanes and two curving tunnels. In front of me on the left is a semi and on the right is a dump truck, together, both going slow. The dump truck is going a little faster. I wait for the dump truck to pull ahead enough that I can cut over in front of the semi and get by. There's a gap, I accelerate, and just as I'm about to change lanes, both trucks hit the brakes hard. Thick smoke from both trucks' brakes and loud noises. A semi was stopped on a blind turn in a tunnel. ABS did its thing and I missed the rear of the dump truck by about a foot. Damn!

Having a small nimble car definitely can help you avoid accidents when you can take quick sudden turns and stop faster than most vehicles out there.
I try to take into account the stopping distance of the vehicle in front of me and I am always looking for an emergency exit plan for sudden turns. This car is fun but I do not want to be trapped inside it. I seriously drive it like I was invisible and no one can see me.

Glad to hear you made it through unscathed.
The one scary thing about the S brakes being so good is the people who may be following behind with not-so-good brakes. I'm always fearful of that should a sudden stop be in order.
