Default S2000 as a daily driver?

I will be using my S2000 as a daily driver. I have heard mixed feelings from other sites...

I want to know what the good people of S2Ki think of the S2000 as a daily driver? I will be giving my wife my car and buying the S2000 for myself to go to work and daily drives.

I don't particularly mind road noise because my music is usually too loud anyways to care. I don't mind bumpy rides cause...I know it comes with the territory.

i used to do that, not bad at all actually.

the only thing stopping me to drive it everyday is theives/haters/suv with big heavy doors.

the trunk is small, gas is expensive, registering as primary vehicle will cost more, tires are expensive. other than that's it's all nice and smooth

Part of my decision to buy the S2000 was to get it as daily driver. For six months I had to put up with rush hour traffic in Northern Virginia, and it was nice to have a zippy car to change lanes quickly and zoom past people. The other thing is, once I slowed down, and made my commute a fun drive, instead of a race, I found that putting the top down made it especially pleasurable. In summary, I love the S2k as a daily driver!

S2000 can get 30mph highway. gas isn't an issue. the car works fine as a DD.

There's a lot of other *sports* cars that do much worse on gas. Most sports cars are under 20mpg. The tank is small and takes only hi-test. This has you filling up about every 250 miles. But if you're worried about the price of gas, the cost of insurance will really make you throw-up.

I bought my S and a 92 something or other to drive in bad weather. Well, the 92 Camry (I think it is?) had every and anything break on it and I ended up driving the S through a nice mid-west winter. I have to say it was'nt that bad except for:

a. It sucks knowing there is salt and snow and just general road grime geting all over the car.
b. I personaly have a problem driving over broken up pavement even if it doesn't damage my car.
c. This car is made to rev high and corner HARD even in stock trim and frankly, 99% of my trips and comute are spent on highways or traffic-laden city streets.
d. I drive 70mph++ on the highway and the gearing in this car is relatively short for a 6spd considering you are at 4-5000rpm at 75-85mph, so get use to being ok with the fact that you are only at half of the engines maximum speed and you arent breaking anything

If you live in an area with smooth roads, back roads, and don't mind some of the little things that come with owning a convertable sports car, then I can't see anything to complain about. I really can't complain that much anyway since the 1st time of the day I hit an on-ramp or redline 2nd and 3rd any of the above mentioned disapear from my mind. Happy motoring.

What car are you coming from? I came from a sedan so it took some time to adjust. After having it as my DD for about a year, I think I'm jumping back to a larger car.

Although 80% of the time it's just me in the car, I like to have my wiggle room (I'm not fat, husky or anywhere near it ). I just want more space. I dont want to shift gears every couple seconds in traffic. I want to be able to get in and out of the car easily (you kind of have to push yourself out of the s2000). I'd love to keep the s2000 as a weekend car but theres no way I can afford 2 car payments.

But it's always nice jumping into the S after a long day of work and tearing through the gears.... until traffic hits.
