I had the first gen Miata so it might be a tighter fit, but yes I absolutely agree about the leg room. When I test drove the 06 miatas they seem to have a lot more room overall, plus the soft top is so much easier to put up than the old ones.

The fuel economy on the S is about the same as the miata. Of course if vtech all the way home you just get a lighter wallet and bigger .
I've driven a few of the "new" MX5's at the Zoom Zoom Live events in Atlanta, and they're not bad. I still like the older, smaller (and simpler) cars better.

True, the S2000 only drinks more gas because it's making more power, but I average 5-6 miles more per gallon with the MX5. Tires are cheaper, and last a lot longer on the Miata too.

i use my s2000 as a daily driver mainly just to show off at work, since im the only one their with a convertible. also my work place is one of those safe places where you can park your car with the topdown.

Freaking insurance is around 300$ a month with full coverage. whats the point of buying a nice car if people cant see you ride in it.

also its funny cause im only 19 with an s2000 (better than 90% of what people are driving to my work)
yea i hear ya on that i pay 4487 a year for my insurance on the s2k, with full coverage, sucks major balls

and where i work is rpetty safe to park your car as well, i get my own little space, and its in back of the building for employees only

I had a 2000 miata. The s2000 is quieter, much more head room, and a much more solid feel on the road. It's my DD.

I use mine as a DD, and no problems at all. Just dont go gunning it everywhere, save that for the weekends or autox or the car will get worn out. Gas isnt too bad down here and it is a pretty economical car for being a sportster.

Also to the comment:
1. the point is to enjoy the car while youre in it, not for others to enjoy you in the car

2. maybe because people who work at restaurants are more money-wise than to spend above their means?
I'm 19 as well and while many people wonder why people our age purchase cars like the S. Why can't we if we can afford it and still have a good money supply? Also - i didnt see any indication that the member you were referring to worked at a restaurant.

Daily driver? To NOT drive a car this much fun - even with the bumps, etc - would be the problem. People who put it away for the weekends I've never gotten as this is a car you just want to drive. I have had one from sept 1999 when they first went on sale (bought it on day 1) and it was a GREAT daily driver. Still have it, along with a new Z4 M coupe and I still love it. But I have to say the m coupe has a bit more luxury feel and I do like it but I think it is partly just because it is a newer car and the S2K has 11oK miles + on it.

Overall it has been a great daily driver if you like adrenaline everyday!

mines a DD.

things I don't like about it.

1. noisey inside.

2. everyone who sits with me bitches too much no space un comfortable blah blah i hate having passengers in the car. and then u just wanna kill people when the slam my door. I'm ok with the space its not that bad.

3 gotta replace rear tires too often I'm on my 3rd set had the car for yr and half.

4. I get only 220miles to a full tank (dont know why)

5. cop magnet had 2 tickets in the last yr for speeding I ve never had speeding ticket before in anything

but every things else is good

I think these three elements may be related.

Eventually I plan to replace the stock radio with a louder exhaust system.
