Not sure who it's made by, but I'm certain it's a Torsen, which literally means "torque sensing", and I believe it was Mazda who invented it. I do know there are many similarities between the 3RD gen RX-7 LSD and our own.

Mazda does not make the rear end on the S2000. Honda dont even make their own rear ends. I do know that the supplier that supplies Honda with the rear end is the same one that Mazda uses, in fact the overall design and specifications are almost identical.

I believe what the article was saying is that the parts were sourced and found that the Miata rear end can work for the s2000, and therefore Honda got the permission from Mazda to use the Mazda designed rear end use it in the s2000. From there Honda was able to buy the part from Mazda's supplier.

Peace
