Default S2000: The End or a means to an end?

After reading multiple threads about owners being unsatisfied, I thought it might be interesting to see who here bought their S because it was
A)exactly what they wanted, or
B)because it was what I refer to as a "stepping stone" sports car, that is, a car that would temporarily satiate one's need for power and handling until one could afford a more expensive, more powerful vehicle (Z06, Boxster S, etc.).

I'll weigh in with my complete satisfaction. I never even considered a sports car before the S, but fell in love with it and after purchasing realized this was my "ultimate" car. I don't feel the need to add HP mods, nor do I look with envy upon faster vehicles on the road around me. When I drive my S2000, the world is at peace, and I am happier than a pig in $hit.

I absolutely fell in love with the car as a concept at the '98 Chicago Auto Show. I wanted one then, and it took me 5 years worth of "stepping stones" to get here. Sure I could have bought it sooner, but only as my only car. To me, the S is not a practical year-round car and for me it is necessiary to have a winter beater. Of course I don't like "beaters" as a whole so my "beater" is a brand new 2002 Chevy Silverado. I have about 3600 mi on it so far. The point is I probably could have bought a Z06 or a BoxterS if I only needed one car, but I like choices.

All that being said, I love the car. I am extrememly happy with it, but I am planning some mods to the car. Perhaps some HP gains, some astetics, and some electrical (re: AUDIO.) I have no interest in a Boxter or even the Z06 at this point. Mabey I'll see what the 'Vette looks like for the 60th aniversary ed.

The perfect car for me.

1. It had to be a convertible - There's goes a lot of neat cars
2. It had to be reliable - There goes all domestic cars (IMHO)

The fact that it's a Honda with excellent performance and looks is just gravy.

I'll agree, although I'll say that it probably won't be the last sports car I'll ever own. I do hope to keep it indefintely even if I purchase more cars.

I am one of the buyers that is completely satisfied. The s2000 gives me everythign I was looking for. Quick and fun car that looks FRIGGIN SWEET, and is relatively affordable. I hope to keep it for the lifetime of the car. Will I buy other cars in the future that end up being faster than the S, probably...just the way of car making, faster and more powerful (most of the time). Will I enjoy these other cars as much as I ahve the S? Probably not, it was my first car purchase...it's like the first kiss type of thing, you may have better kisses, but you rarely forget that first one...PAYCE

I'm so young and have driven so few sports cars I can't really say. I know that I really like it now and can't imagine getting rid of it anytime soon. Maybe when I get my next sports car I'll be able to afford to keep the S2000 and get another car.

Also, I would love to have more power. I don't get jealous of camaros or anything, but who couldn't have fun with 100 more HP?

Except for certain cars that are way beyond my price range, there is no car I'd rather have than an S2000.

I could have purchased a Boxster, 'vette, etc...but the S is the car I wanted. There are certainly other cars out there that I really like, and if someone offered to trade me the S for, say, a 911, then I might go for it. But the S is in no way a "compromise" car, it's exactly what I wanted to get. It just can't be compared to ceratin higher end cars. After all, the Boxster S is considered a stepping stone car by Porsche to their 911... And Maserati is a stepping stone manufacturer to Ferrari. There's always something better/faster/more expensive/more exclusive. Given the choice between an S and a 911 - no cost involved, which would you choose? Now choose between a 911 and a 360...

It's one to add to the stable. I plan to keep it and add others down the road. The Insight and Sport Trac can and probably will be replaced down the road, but I plan to keep the S as the first of 10 in a collection of my dream/ realistic cars.
