I'd do the trade......if you don't daily drive the FD. I have heard about the reliability issues also.

But for the fact that yours is a rebuilt title....You could always sell that FD, in great condition, for more money than a rebuilt S2 IMO.

I owned an FD... eventhough mine is not a DD it still broke down all the time. I just couldn't afford it anymore. It stressed me out not knowing what will break next. I sold it to get my S. But I do miss it though.

If you want a rotary, swap in a 20B into your S

as beautiful as they were, they had so many problems mazda had to stop making them. expensive, expensive problems. intercooler has been known to get sucked into the engine. avoid!
Mazda actually didn't stop making them. They just didn't shipped them to the US after 1995 due to lack of sales. They continued to make them in japan until 2002 (correct me if i'm wrong)The engine was over engineered but they fell short in actually designing a cooling system to work with the Rotary. Hence, overheating problems that occurred with this car.

Honestly they are expensive to maintain unless you have the dough to do that I suggest not to unless you really want a change. FD's are getting rarer everyday compared to the s2k. You can always pick up an s2k later on if your finances permit you to.

I like the FD's not for the style nor the engine, but for the handling aspect. They are one of the best handling cars available (if you can find one non-salvage). They have the best steer ratios to date that I ever felt. I think it's better then the s2k honestly. And I read somewhere that an FD beat a R34 GT-R in a time attack race.

Now if only I can find one STOCK Non-salvage titled.

I wouldn't trade it unless you like spending money on your car in repairs.

I do think the FD is one of the sexiest cars ever.

I'd keep the S though.

Every time i went to the pump i had to add a half a quart of oil, hope you get one with a good engine.

repairs is not really an issue., im just wondering if its worth it. i dont make tons of money., shit i feel i make less then the average joe., its jus my peoples (family) are really good on rotary powered vehicles. like i said should i trade??? the s2's are great cars dont get me wrong., but its just that i dont know an rx7 i think its the better package.

rx7- pros: turbo., better handling., nicer looking
cons: rotary issues, older, more miles.

s2k- pros: one of the best motors built, great looking,
cons: salvage title, not better handling the the rx, underpowered
