If it's worth more than your car or if you're emotionally invested in the FD, do it. Otherwise, it makes no sense. If it's worth more and you don't like it, you could always just sell it. An 01 rebuilt titled car isn't worth a whole lot. A rare FD with a functional engine probably is.

kind of sounds like you are already set on the FD and just need a few extra words to push you to that side. I think you should do it especially if you have rotary hook-ups.

lol...thanks s2kforlife., im just saying that if something were to go wrong with my s2., i would have to take it to a machine shop., etc. (with a piston motor) compared to rotary., we can rebuild it while taking a dump...(highly not recomended.,) but you get the point. i dont know i'll check out the rx7 and let you guys know whats up., if its even worth it., plus i have to add up all my receipts to make sure im not getting screwed here....keep ya'll posted. thanks for all the input.

Well, I don't really have too much insight to add to this which hasn't already been said, but I feel I can post anyways because I have owned an FD for 5 years and seen 16k in rebuilds/and upgrades including 3mm apex seals....etc, and watched something else go wrong time and time again.

I also have owned a salvaged title car and when the time came to sell....yikes, not a big market for them.

Basically, an FD will be worth more than a salvaged S, and it will continue to hold its value, however it will take a lot of maintenance and upgrades to keep it at the current value. If I had a maintenance hookup like the one it sounds like you have, then I would probably have kept the rx at least for a little while longer.

It really depends on how much the 7 is worth, like someone else said, with a solid motor, it should be worth more than a salvaged S. I would trade and if the rx doesn't work out, get another s with a clean title. The gas mileage is bad in the FD, Mine (very very lightly modified, got 13mpg in the city and 17 on the highway).

I would take an honest assessment of the conditions of both cars too, which one would you rather be in? there is something to be said for exclusivity which is something that the rx does have over the s.

And just a quick comment for the person who said that declining sales resulted in stopping importing here, it was the OBDII exhaust regulations that caused the RX to have to undergo serious modification to get it to pass smog in U.S. I believe some other cars like the Supra slowed down in 96 and later due to this.

my $.02

good luck with your decision

I'm w/ everyone else in here. I have a soft spot for rotaries, as i owned an FC TII before this, and was actually shopping for an FD before I got the stook.

It came down to this:

Do you enjoy driving or fixing? If driving is your answer stay with the S2k. The FD is such a hassle -- they compromised a lot in that car to make it featherweight, and it shows. Interior quality is not up to par. If it still has the stock sequential turbos, have fun w/ the rats nest.

But if you enjoy wrenching a lot...get it. They're such awesome cars...

Project car, FD >>>>> s2k

the potential for mods are endless with that car. i would say it would make the better track car as well
