I think it is pretty safe to say if Mazda didn't produce the Miata (and do as well as they have done with it) the S2000 would have never existed.

what's wrong with being compared to a miata?? miata started the modern japanese sports car era and is a damn good ride.

Actually, I never knew about the "Miata driver = gay" thing until a friend of mine made a comment about another friend who had a Miata. He was just joking around, but I was like "really? That's the sterotype?"
Apparently it is. I must say the first person I saw driving a Miata had a rainbow bumpersticker. But then, at that time I was living in the gay neighborhood, so the deck was stacked.
A gay friend of mine once told me "If he's driving a red convertible, he's gay". He was talking specificaly about a VW Cabriolet, but I hadn't considered that statement when I bought my NFR s2k.

I wonder what my wife thinks? ....

Unfortunately this car is now cheap enough for anybody to own.
to tell you the truth.......the Miata was the reason I was sold on the s2000. My cousin owns a 2000 miata (no he is not gay) and every time he came over on the weekends we would switch cars (i drove an 02 civic Si) and I just fell in love with the whole roadster feel. I had driven my friends 00' s2000 before that also and I finally said I NEED a roadster ASAP and I wanted to stick to Honda and plus the 9k redline
, so I went and test drove a few and ended up with my 01'
