Some of you guys act like there haven't been riced out s2000's since MY00. Taste and money are not mutually exclusive.

A co-worker of mine the other day asked "Hey, do you still have that red Miata?" I said "Honda?, yes I still have it." At first I thought about how insulted I was that she thought my car was a Miata... Then I thought how stupid I must be..or arrogant maybe. Guys/Girls...Let's get real! We paid $34,000 for our cars brand new. This isn't an unaffordable car for most. Next time your at a red light and see the car next to you.. (i.e) Ford Expedition, Ford F150 Lariat, Toyota Tundra Limited, Toyota Solaris, etc.... These cars are all the same price..Somewhere in the $30's. Miatas are even in the mid to high $20's now. Hell, you can lease an 04 S2000 with $0 down for $300/month.

As for the Miata comparison.....If you bought the car for status, you bought the wrong car. Honda's will always be Honda's and Mazda's will always be Mazda's.

Please, don't send me hate mail. Just trying to express my opinion. I love my S2000!!! I just hate for people to get all cocky thinking they have made it in life because they "CHOSE" to spend $34,000 on a car that they wish wasn't being compared to a Miata.

" what's wrong with being compared to a miata?? miata started the modern japanese sports car era and is a damn good ride."

The Miata is the quintessential sports car. It followed the tradition of the great British sportscars and brought reliability. It's lightweight, handles like a champ, cheap (well, the first ones were), reliable and most of all, so much fun around the corners. In some ways people prefer it to the S2K. My S2K is arriving in two weeks, and I can't wait, but I'm going to be very very sad to sell my Miata.

Miatas are true sports cars. Our national level autoxer at our local SCCA meeting called them Go Karts with 2 doors. He said the same thing about our S2K. Miatas do very well on the track as well as at autox.

I resent that people look down at the fact that it's come down in price. It's a 5 year old car. Being that I'm 23, and only 18 when they came out, there was no way for me to afford one, yet I knew when they came out that I HAD to own one one day. I knew that it would be several years for them to come down in price too. Now that they are 5 years old and I make a substantial income, I was finally able to afford one at 17,000 dollars. I think it's great that people who could not afford them before can now if they want one.

I don't like the fact that tasteless modsters will make them look like crap either, but that's not to say that everyone buying them at 16-17k will make them ghetto looking. You can't blame the price of the car on the fact that people make their cars look stupid. Blame the people themselves.

The lower price also allows enthusiasts who could not otherwise afford one to have and enjoy.

Btw, that red miata looks sweet. I'm trying to get my roomate with a 96 M edition miata to get a turbo

The Miata is one of the purest incarnations of a sports car in recent memory, IMHO.
