S2000 Handling Sucks
Haha that salesman need to drive b4 commenting on anything.
Actually i just went to a Honda dealership last week, and this salesguy pointed me to a miata when i asked about their used s2k. I almost burst out laughing. He even almost pointed to the car next to it as the s2k(it was a BMW z3)...
Shows you how much car salesmen know about their own product

Not to mention RESALE VALUE !
Certainly other Pontiacs haven't fared so well on resale. I think they did a great job with the GTO, and their muscle cars of the 60's and 70's ceratinly have been a good investment if you bought one back in the day.

I just laughed and pointed out the window to my 240 hp S2000. He said "Those cars are fine if all you want to do is go in a straight line. Once the road starts to turn at all, they are horrible and the Solstice would destroy it."

Car saleslman for the most part don't know jack shit about cars. When I worked for a dealership in college cleaning cars, the freaking Honda salesman would come get me to talk to their customers about the performance side of the Si's and the S2k since I had my S2k then... then again most of the customers weren't the brightest bunch either.

Once you add all the options to the Solstice that the S2000 has standard (ABS, air conditioning, leather seats, power windows/locks, etc) the price is much closer to 5,000 less and you still have 70 HP less, no power roof or Honda reliability.
My coworker was amped about taking delivery of hers recently. So out of curiosity I priced one out through GM's site and was surprised that so many of the features that are standard on our car are not on the Solstice - making that much more affordable for people.
Now, I'd guess a mind 2000 would be worth 22-25k, depending on area, options, color etc...
Tough to say if it would appreciate over time. Probably not in 10 years though, at least not if you take inflation into account as well.

This is off the subject about salesmen, but I did see my first Solstice on the road the other day. I really liked the looks, but the smirk on the drivers face made me want to turn around and catch up with him. It would have been fun to pace him and see if he made a run for it. I bet that smirk would have disappeared
I guess that would have been a little bit too drastic of an action any how.
Sounds like the solstice just doesn't have the power it needs so far. Do you think GM will upgrade the power eventually? Hey, if they can get it right I might be more seriously interested in one in the future.
I do agree with most of you, a lot of salesmen don't have a real clue about cars in general.

Did you also have to bend down low to hear him? You know, since he's talking out his ass?
