whoa! good to know you're pretty much ok man!

I actually had a friend die in a similar way just a few months ago. Worst part is it happened in front of his teenage son.

You're very lucky. My neighbor died when his lawn tractor fell on him from a similar mishap.

Glad you've learned your lesson and send your friends some thank you cards!

how'd u get out?
fortunately there was a can of spinach within arms reach. he grabbed with his left hand, tossed it over to his right hand, squeezed the can and it popped open. the contents of the spinach container come squirting up into the air and made a beautiful arc in mid air then came downward directly over his head. with such beautiful hand-eye coordination, all he had to do now was to look up and open wide, without loosing the blunt that was already in his mouth.
with one gigantic gulp he consumed the spinach and the effects were immediate. the high concentrate of vitamins and nutreants in the spinach cycled throughout his body and settled in his massive tattooed 20" forearms. with the fresh dose of energy, s2knoob02 was able to bench press the 2000 lbs vehicle off his chest with one arm and continued his exhaust install with the other. all the while his 2 other buddies stood flailing their arms in noodle like fashion screaming out, "oohh s2knoob, ooohh sk2noob, do something s2knoob".

seriously, glad s2knoob02 is ok and a big to your 2 friends for no doubt saving your life.
this thread should be a sticky along with all the DIYs for safety sake. first hand account of something we all feel can't happen to us.

jackstands>wheels>wood blocks>cinder blocks>hydraulic/scissor jacks.

Glad someone was there, that is also my biggest fear of being trapt under my car since i work on it alone sometimes and no ones there to help.

I was at a track day a few weeks ago standing around talking to some guys. I hear someone yelling "oooowwww, oooooowwww, oooowwwww" and when I turned around, I saw a miata on top of a guy at around his shoulders. We ran over there and lifted the car up and got him out. He was very lucky because he got caught in between the wheel and car and his shoulder only got a little pinched (he was a real skinny guy). If he was only a couple of inches over though, his head or chest might have been smashed.

People.... please use some jack stands when working on your car. They're made for a reason.

That's scary, glad you're ok. It's my biggest fear while working under there. Except I stick every object within grasp and mass, under the car, while I'm under there.

Jacks(3)
Stands (6)
tranny jack (1)
cider blocks(etc)
wheels (4)
tool boxes (2)
drive up ramps (2)
etc...
