Dump truck changed lanes and bumped into the left side of my S2000. The diver said he never saw me as I was in his blind spot on the right. Lesson No. 1: Get a dashcam. Lesson No.2: Never drive parallel to a big truck or SUV if you can help it. Fortunately, I only had tire marks on the driver’s side door. We are driving small, low cars that most drivers can’t even see I traffic.
Curious if there was another car in front of the Honda preventing it from moving forward and therefore why it just sat there waiting to be hit. The advice to leave yourself an escape route applies.

Not trying to shift blame which is clearly on the truck only curious if the "victim" could have taken any action other than waiving. Moving would have been one such step -- assuming it was possible. I don't note any frontal damage which leads me to think there was nothing but open space in front.
That assumption seems like a stretch. Wouldn't a prudent person pull upnas far as possible, WITHOUT hitting car in front?
A quick thinking person would have set parking brake as they were jumping out to wave frantically. So truck could easily have just crunched it, not pushed it.
Hey guys, OP here.
First, I really appreciate the advice and comments.
Good news is the damage is pretty much 'localized' I guess because of the very low speed and so a trunk lid, 3rd brake light, rear panel and bumper cover are the parts needed and a certified Honda repair shop has located (new Genuine) parts which are en route. My Mugen exhaust was unscathed fortunately, and today I switched back to stock exhaust in preparation for the repairs.
I always leave a decent gap to the next car (and there was a car in front of me). My rationale is partly to be able to go around if there's a carjacking, road rage, etc. Once the vehicle behind stops, I stop thinking of driving away to avoid it. (mistake) I just never thought somebody could be as stupid as the truck river. She was fairly close, but I figured she was inching forward, not coming through me. Possibly . . . leaving a gap in front hurt me because if I'd been tucked under the bumper of the next car she might have seen me?
Overall, I'm still astonished by her stupidity and negligence. I wouldn't trust her behind the wheel of a 20 year old Chevy Cavalier. The S2000 stopped the truck. I have a 1966 Austin Mini Moke and it would have been a different situation in the Moke.
If it was reported to the police then there will be a Car Fax report indicating a vehicle accident and it will lower resale price big time. Make sure you get the devalued amount from the insurance company. It’s damaged goods from here on! Glad your ok.
Glad you're ok - it's always the worst when you've done everything right, but you still run into someone who is either an idiot, or just not paying attention.
At least the truck driver wasn't being malicious - I had a guy in an Audi SUV go road-rage on me and try to cause a crash twice (with my wife and kids in the car with me - a little Honda Fit), because I gave him a single short honk when he tried to lane change into me alongside (didn't even look at the driver or make any gestures).
Had dashcam footage, and the cops basically said "can't do anything if a police officer wasn't there to witness it"
