I have had some experience lol:
- One night, out of a party, I have had some random girls praising my car before when I was in college.
- Driving topless in La Jolla when an old man in his new Lexus GS next to me said "nice car, it looks amazing."
- The day I walked at my graduation, I drove to the parking lot topless, got out in my suit and put on my hat. Some families were looking haha.

You have a BB? I think I saw one that was always in Hopkins with a Mugen hardtop. Yours?
I can't imagine that but I ignore such comments and the fun of the S2000 for me has nothing to do with what others say but the experience in the driver's seat. Always consider the source and that you have no control over what others say or do -- just over what you do.

Mine happens to be BB with a Mugen hardtop, but I left UCSD two years ago for grad school.
I know this is an old thread but it hits home..
Around here summer is short and fancy cars or convertibles are rare. NH is SUV/Minivan/Subaru/Pickup truck/motorcycle territory. So even an 8 year old Honda convertible gets the "oh they must pay you too much" comments. This is 99% of the reason I don't bother driving it to work during the week.

Jealousy is an ugly thing. When I was in college, I had a BMW Z4. I bought it for $24,000, which was quiet a splurge as a college kid, but regardless, it was way cheaper than anyone thought it was. I was on an outing with a class and everyone was freaking out about my car. They were being polite enough about it, saying things like, "wow, that's such a nice car." and "boy, I wish I could have a car as nice as yours!" I asked them how much they thought it was worth. One of them says, "Oh... at least $50,000"
When I told them it cost as much as an Accord they about died.

I was a junior in college when I finally got my first car. (1977) A good (older retired) friend of mine sold me his 1964 Dodge Coronet Wagon with three on the tree for one dollar. Man, I thought that was the most beautiful car in the world. (Got 265,000 miles on it and sold it for $250. Only car I made $ on!)

Now I can just sit in the garage and admire the S!
