as much as i love my s2000 i dont see it capable of running a 13.8 in stock form, am i wrong? i thought they ran a mid 14?

NAh not mid 14's the highest i've seen is 14.1, lowest 13.8(not includeing this website).

The difference is in the driver. Your car may not run 13.8 with you behind the wheel, but it's probably possible with an experienced driver. I know there are people on here that have run 13.8ish with a stock car, but my personal best is closer to 14.3. Of course, I launched at 5K RPMs instead of 7-9K in an attempt to prevent the diff from exploding.

i havent ran my car except for on the street - and that was launching at 4k bogging down. im scared if i go much higher my diff will go BOOM! how strong are the diffs and what would be reasonable launch on a stock car to not damage the diff?

not to mention the elevtatioin in our area is higher whcih effects the time also...

IIRC the mag that obtained these times ran the article with disclaimer saying: "don't try to re-create these times at home unless you want to be on a first name basis with your mechanic." No joke.

As mxt said, they were probably launching @ 8-9K.
