s2000 or miata
Am split between a s2k or miata
Already have a 00' SI so I do have a preference for Honda's. Have test driven both but couldn't really wring 'em out. The s2k definitely has more pep but am getting conflicting reports on which is more fun.
Any owner's who own both please give input to help me out.
Will be using the car as a DD alternating with the SI.
Thanks in advance

I have extensive experience in both a 2007 Miata Sport and my S. I love them both. I was having a devil of a time trying to decide between them when I was in the car buying process. In the end, I reasoned that the extra money spent for the S could be recovered by the time it came to sell, and it is a more substantial car. A good family friend bought this 2007 Miata, so I drive it regularly and often.
The Miata is a BLAST to drive. The S2000's limits are higher, and for this reason, you feel less on the edge of your pants in the S2000 as you do in the Miata if you are going the same speed. The clutch on the Miata is a lot softer, but takeup point is much earlier than in the S2000. Something to think about. The steering is spot on in the Miata, very nicely weighted. The 5spd in that car is one of my favorite transmissions out there too. More notchy than the S, but shifts are precise and snick right into gear. It's a great feeling. When I'm in the Miata, I get the feeling that it was crafted out of a single block - very solidly put together. The S2000 is more upscale and substantial, but I look forward to driving the Miata every chance I get.
This is your DD, keep in mind. Fuel economy will be an issue as well. I've gotten 35mpg easily on long trips with the Miata. Insurance will be cheaper, you'll be less worried about theft and things of this nature. In the future I'd love to pick up a Miata as a daily driver, so that may give you an indication of my mindset.
The S2000 is the better car, but you can easily have just as much fun in the Miata. If you have any more specific questions, let me know.

Hmmm........I think I'm gonna be S2000 biased here. I respect the Miata but the S2000 out performs the Miata by far. There is the Best Motoring video volume 18 that compares the new Miata to rival roadsters. You'll be able to see the S2000 dominance in this video.

So many people underestimate the Miata, or say it's a girl's car. I would bet those people have never driven one. I don't think that any new car can provide as many smiles for that amount of money.

Thanks for ur input BD89.
I usually take my time in a new car to get aquainted with the driving characteristics so a test drive with a salesman doesn't really give me what I want.
It seems that u like the Miata more.
I actually got contradictory reports on "driving limits" of the 2 cars. I was told that the s2k will bite u bad if u make a mistake but the miata is more forgiving at the limit and hence easier to drive at the limit on the street(canyon runs).

you came onto a s2k website, your going to get bias answers, honestly I don't know why your DD this car instead of your SI, I love the looks of the s2k far greater but if your looking for fun driving I think they are comparable

im gonna have to say get the S2000 and keep the Si as a DD. in the end i think it will be a more rewarding experience. Plus when it comes the sad time to sell it you will get a better return
