S2000 - not the fastest really

I own a 2000 S2000 for 4 months now. before i had a 98 integra type r with i/h/e and some smaller mods and that car was really fast for what it was.
after this i got the s2000 and i have to say i am really disappionted. it doesnt only feel slower than the itr it is slower. i dont notice vtec kickin in almost at all unlike in the b18 integra. i tried to understand the car and to give it some time, but everytime i drive it fast and hard its just disappointing somehow. it lacks something, not sure what exactly. just doesnt feels so aggressive and fast. i expected really more of this car. what is your opinion? are there some people out there who feel the same? or others who think completely different? would be interesting to hear your opinion about this....

Some decry how fun it is to drive. It is fun, I agree. So is a moped. And a moped is much cheaper. Nobody wants to be seen on one tho...I hope the S never degenerates to that level.
Some decry that it's a track car, I am sure it is, but I am not a track guy. I am a street guy. It is fun to drive on the street.
When introduced, it floated in the sweet spot for fun and performance on the street. The street performance has not changed in 8 years or so with the S, but it has for other makes. So the track guys are still happy, but for the street guys, we are kinda left wondering what's next.
So, that leaves it as a just a fun car. The $$$ are too high for simply a fun car IMO.
who or what gave you th impression that the S was fast?? I mean it is to a degree but where did you get the notion it was "Fast"??
There are a myriad of cars faster than the S2000. it will never be a great inline race car even heavily boosted, you will just be throwing money at a car that will not hook up.
where and in what kind of environment are you trying to drive fast in?
if it is straight line then, yes, you will be disappointed. Take those same agrresive driving approaches and put them on a twisty road and your mood will change quite quickly

The S feels slower, but I don't think it is. I think it feels slower because of the different gear ratio, and more smooth engine. I think the B18 feels better because of the brutal vtec kick. The S is stronger all the way.
I'm pretty sure it's faster, because I passed all the type R's on my first track day. Most of them where more experienced drivers then me. When I had my type R, they were faster then me...
But the S is still more fun. RWD
you also have to remember that a DC2R is pretty aggressive in terms of everything including removal of sound deadening and the sort. I have driven one on a track and on the street and everything about the R makes it feel loud, rough, fast, and mean.
the s2k is close but it has been treated so that a 45 yr old man can comfortably drive it.

Coming from a prelude that dyno's more TQ to the wheels than my stock S calls for from the engine, I can see what your saying.
I, however, came to a realization. Any car starts to get feel slow after your have driven it for a while or if you had large expectations before every sitting in the drivers seat of one. Also, it is very easy to 'remember' a car better than it was. You tend to remember all the positives (how it launched, how vtec felt/sounded, etc). These two things together can make you second guess your car upgrade, but I bet there is a large chance that you would say 'actually, the S is pretty quick' if you were to go back and drive ur ITR again.
I remember the week I got my S I was almost too afraid to take it to 9k in first gear. That has long since passed since I've gotten used to the car, and my comfort in it has made it feel quite tame. I'm sure if I could track down my old lude again and compare it, I'd be reminded why the S was such a rush when I first got it.

sure there are lots of "fast" cars. hell i had a hard time passing an '08 Tahoe who gunned it when he heard me down shift, but i bet his tahoe doesnt make him get a stupid ass grin every time he presses his engine start button...err turn his key like most normal people....
I was disappointed in teh beginning as well, but you know what? It's not always about being "fast" on the streets. I'm having a blast driving within the speed limits and just enjoying the day - maybe I'm growing up, or growing old, but the car makes me feel like batman.

j/kThis car is so much fun to drive, the quickness is so secondary to me. I just love the way i'm plugged into the seat and the way the car seems to ride like it's on rails....
i think one of the most overlooked and best elements of the s2000 is the feeling i get after work top down stuck in traffic on the way home.
why?
cause im relaxing, smiling, and loving the moment whereas i look to the other people in their cars and there is no connection, there are no happy faces...
seriously, look around nex time you are in gridlock with top down.
