S2000 - not the fastest really
I own a 2000 S2000 for 4 months now. before i had a 98 integra type r with i/h/e and some smaller mods and that car was really fast for what it was.
after this i got the s2000 and i have to say i am really disappionted. it doesnt only feel slower than the itr it is slower. i dont notice vtec kickin in almost at all unlike in the b18 integra. i tried to understand the car and to give it some time, but everytime i drive it fast and hard its just disappointing somehow. it lacks something, not sure what exactly. just doesnt feels so aggressive and fast. i expected really more of this car. what is your opinion? are there some people out there who feel the same? or others who think completely different? would be interesting to hear your opinion about this....

fast at the dragon and auto-x. Just heard, birmingham region had the fastest time s2000 that was bone stock. that means, it beat some of the faster modded SM STI's and Evo's.
not a drag racing car, yo.

Yeah, if you're expecting it to be fast in a straight line, you might be disappointed. It's not slow by any means, but there are plenty of Mustangs, Camaros, etc. that can outrun it in a quarter with a good enough driver.
Those same Mustangs and Camaros would get embarrassed on anything other than a dragstrip, though.

i never expected the s2k to be fast...quick yes, but not fast. However an s2000 is far more than about speed. Other than a few specialty cars, the s2000 connects itself so well with the driver i am impressed with it every single time i drive it.
It is an overall experience that is hard to explain.

I came very close to buying a Miata, and I was fully aware that what I was buying was not going to be fast by any means.
You can own the fastest car on the planet, but if it doesn't put a smile on your face every time you start it up, what's the point?
03 COBRA PERFORMANCE
0-60 mph: 4.5 seconds
1/4 mile: 12.9 @ 111mph
Top Speed: 155 mph
Lateral Acceleration: 0.90g
03 S2000 PERFORMANCE
0 - 60 mph: 5.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 14.4 @ 98.0
Top Speed: 147
Lateral Acceleration: 0.90g
Should have bought a cobra/vette/ta/camaro if you want to drag.

Coming from a Z06, GTO, Cobra, etc... I was rather unimpressed when I first drove it... but decided I wanted it anyways for autocross, track, canyon runs... etc...If you think this car is missing something, you're right... its called torque
...but after the first time I took it down some canyon roads, I fell inlove with it.Life kind of sucks now (post S2000 purchase) ...I'm currnetly looking at cars right now, and am marking cars off of my list left and right. Nothing just seems to have the same feel and connection that you have with the S2000's steering. I've also been spoiled by the gear box I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing
