It took less than a day to get there though. OP will need to pace himself or he'll be in for a rough 2010

I wonder what was wrong with the first ‘06 that you looked at?
Just didn't like it....it felt very sluggish and didn't really like the handling
like the '06 I drove today and loved.(refrain from exclamation points).

Can I please ask...haven't really gone WOT...is that what it takes to
get the "pushed back in my seat feel"?
And this would occur at what?....7500 rpm?

I think the salesman I was with today is still in a form of "shock".

He kept repeating.."I can't beleive how your driving"

geez...it's not an SUV...it's an S..of course I'm going to spool to
4K to 5K rpms and eschew short shifting!

ps..yes at 6'5" it's a nice fit

honestly, it's not really a push you back into your seat car--it's only really going when you're at the top of the revs, and in 2nd gear you approach 60 before you're at peak torque.

of course, it's all relative--it must feel downright diabolical after getting out of a big rig. but it won't push you back like any evo/sti/mustang gt/muscle car, despite the fact that it's nearly as quick in the 1/4 mile as all its generation of cars.

however, the grin gets really really wide when you really learn the car and are able to run through the corners close to full speed--that's where the car shines. try auto-x at first, and when you've been driving it for a while, get it out on the track or in the canyons. it's great!!

find out where your local track junkies hang out and join them--you'll love it!

bgoetz..forget the Smokies...while you would probably smoke me
at autox....I just have a feeling you might be a bit unnerved driving
a big rig across the Goethels bridge then 278E for a romp through
Brooklyn then over to Queens for one of those very trying loading docks! lol

Or maybe blindsiding in Chicago to a dock from a VERY busy 2-way street..
of course you're doing this while having had 3 hrs of sleep over the past
72hrs.! wa wa!
Oh, I am sure I could not get the stupid thing out of the parking lot

Great that you found one you liked, now it is time to pull the trigger. I am sure with all of you travling you have came across some great roads, so it will be time to take the S2k on a road trip and not the 18-wheeler .

About the power, just mat the pedal and shift at 8k

Generally Torque is considered to get you that "slammed into your seat" feeling, but you can try this.

get up to about 45 mph in 2nd gear, and just hold that speed. When you're ready, floor it, and you'll have a smile on your face Just watch the RPMs, since you'll need to shift into the next gear rather quickly.

Hopefully the car will have decent tires and not break traction when you do that

If you wanna be pushed into the back of your seat in the S I'd suggest letting someone you trust drive while you wear a blindfold.

It's different feeling VTEC from the driver vs passenger seats

Oh yeah..you have a yellow one as well...hello....
you've got a yellow CR!

Just some great examples of S's in this thread...love them
all....just wish I could budget for a CR...especially one with
radio and ac.
Best on the sale..shouldn't take long.

Drove an '02 yesterday which had 74K miles and was extremely
clean, quick and agile/nimble.
The engines on all the 2000's I've driven have been extremely clean
and was surprised that an '02 would be so clean.

My only problem with this car was that ih dry conditions it is
very "tail-happy" as well. Yes..the tires are shot but I've driven 400HP
RWD cars in the past and have never experienced the sensation I get
from the S in regards to the rear being so "light".

Any solutions to gain more stability from the '02 other than newer tires?
Possibly a wider tire?
A more experinced driver?
Or just stick with the '04 and later model with traction control?
thanks!
