my understanding is that H is where its supposed to be. the maximum level of oil you can put.

i think you have .4 more than you need though, last i heard 5.1 is the amount needed for our engine. which reminds me i gotta top mine off

That should be fine. Is that dipstick amount when the engine is hot or cold? If hot, you are 100% fine, if cold you may want to drain .5 qt although I probably would not worry about it.

i thought when its cold, it gets a higher reading. but yea, hot is right at H and cold is a lil over.

That makes no sense. Oil expands when it get hot so the level should read higher when the engine is hot. But you have to wait 5 minutes after turning the engine off in order to let the oil drain down into the oil pan to get an accurate reading. If you are a little over the H mark when the oil is cold, I probably would loosen the drain plug and let .5 qt drain out. Actually, on second thought I probably would not bother.

Also make sure you are on a flat surface when taking a reading. It will not be accurate if you are parked on a hill.

that tiny extra bit of oil will be burned-off before you know it. even if these didn't burn any, doesn't matter. it's not 2 much; don't go thru the hassle trust me!

I've been putting all 6 qts in at every oil change for a while now since the engine tends to burn oil. No problems. I wouldn't put any more than that though.

I used to do the same but it's really unecessary. Last oil change I put 5 and it was 3/4 of the way up the shaded area of the dipstick cold. You lose a bit of power and risk other problems when you overfill it so much.
