When I fill my 07 it is right at the H with 5 quarts. Thats after letting it really drain for a good 30 mins or longer.
I was at the track tuesday and my buddy said everytime around one of the turns when I braked it would shoot out a white cloud of smoke. We figured it was oil splashing up. Anyone know?

When you change oil and filter, put 5 qts back in the engine. Let it run for a few minutes, then shut off and walk away. A few hours later, or maybe the next morning, check the level *cold* before starting it again, and add any oil as needed.
Checking oil level on a warm engine, or on ground that is not level, seems to be the typical way people go wrong and add the wrong amount of oil.

5 quarts has never been enough for me. 5.5 to 5.6 takes me to about 4/4s to 7/8s of the way to H. Engine fully warmed.

actually water expands when frozen...
But it also expands slightly when it gets hot.
The problem with checking oil in a cold car is that more oil is the pan and not where it's supposed to be within the motor. That is why you check the oil level after running the car.
