S2000 Owner Considering '03 Boxster S
Attention All: I am keeping my S2000!
I simply can't justify the difference in price and since it is a rainy day, I have been doing a lot of research on the Boxster S. They are nice cars but with sales down and the number made, I think in 5 months, I would regret trading in my S2000 for car that actually would retail for about 23, 400 more with chosen options.
I am probably going to the S/C route shortly though with the S2000.
I have a '01 so I wish I could get rid of that plastic rear window but I believe that is outrageously priced.
Thanks for everyones input!

Over a year ago I posted a thread about the fact that I paid less in TOTAL for my 2001 S2000 and my 2002 WRX than I would have for a Boxster S. Really makes you wonder if the prestige factor of a Porsche is worth it. I paid $51,100 for my S2000 and my WRX. Like I said I would prefer a Boxster S to my S2000 but instead of my S2000 and the WRX? No way.
Before I purchased my s2k I had a deposit on a used Boxster S with apx 9k miles. With all of the options the car retailed new for 65'sh...
When I had the deposit on the car and had scheduled the pick up I started having service $ hives (I used to own a Porsche apx 10 years ago).
I then drove the Boxster S, S2000 and Z4 back to back to back and the rest is history.
Everytime I look out in the garage and see my Silverstone with the top down I am very, very, very happy I made the decision to go with the S2k.
Who needs to worry about every little noise and wonder...what was that, is that going to cost me a g-note or two?

Good choice.
I had the same thoughts last week. The main thought was the adjustable seats that my wife would prefer. She is very short and would like to be able to raise the seats.
This is what I came up with:
Sell S2000 and get a less reliable car and add 35 to 40K.. I figured that to get the options I would want I would be spending 60K, and don't forget the license and taxes.
Or
Add new wheels and tires, 2600. Add new coilovers; thinking of mugen, 3000. Add Turbo, 5000.
Add some extras and were at 15K.
If I do this over a year or so and savor each change, this will keep the new car feeling going longer.
In the end the S2 would probably take the BS in many areas, and if I don't directly compare I wouldn't care anyway.
Then invest extra 15K I saved for the future. This would turn into the 60K I would have spent in about 14 years. Then I wouldn't have to work as much and could use the extra time to drive my car.

The Boxster is FUGLY. Huge front and rear overhangs with an ovoid egg shaped body. YUK......The S2K looks better, handles better and has the same performance...plus Honda reliability. Honda...there is no substitute......wait..where have I heard that before?
i agree with everyone else that the boxster s is a wonderful car, but not $20k more wonderful. but i have to disagree on one point ... i think the boxster is a beautiful car. my only problem is that there are a million of them in socal, so you lose interest in their looks quickly.... but i do think they are pretty, pretty cars ... very rem of the 356 (a long time favorite of mine).
i'm glad you stuck with the honda.... make sure to let us know how you like it after you s/c (and make sure you put the 4.44 rear end on there!!!)
