Are you active in the local Florida forum? I am in Orlando and the past two weeks I have organized a couple of get togethers as the weather gets better - If you haven't introduced yourself please do so in our forum and join us at a meet - plenty of "Friendly" S owners! Nick

Any time you give people a chance to voice their opinions in an open forum, you give millions of others the chance to disagree. That's cool and all, and a large part of the reason these forums exist. So, like others have said, you kind of have to get used to it.

But I do see your point - I've noticed on this forum that more and more people are trying to force their opinions onto other members. Not cool, but whatever. It could be much worse. What we need is a section.

On Sept. 1st I bought my NFR 2005. I live in East Orlando an am on the 408 at 4 p.m. everyday. I'll wave to you. Maybe I already have. I might be that old guy you were talkin' about (I'm 42). Anyway, hope you are as happy as I am with your new car and best of luck!!

Eye of the beholder...and beholders vary - especially as this "TWO-YEAR RUN" car goes into its 7th year of production...

That said - i have owned more than 3 dozen cars since I first got my license in 1985. I have owned everything from Broncos and Jeeps to Corvettes and Mustangs...in the late 90s I heard about this S2000 thing and followed it...when it came out I couldn't afford it, but tried to save until I could get one - then when I did, I found out my wife was pregnant with our third child a month later...it lasted 6 more months and, before the baby came, we had to make a sensible change...

Of all the cars I have had - and looked at - and considered - and read about...this was the only car I ever regretted getting rid of. I just love it! It is fast, economical, safe, and comfortable - and to the eye of this beholder, pure beauty!

Once we had put more $$ into savings and could afford a "toy" on top of our family vehicles, I was back in an S2000 as quick as you please...

It really is all about what YOU like!

Unfortunately, and sorry to say, as the production run gets older and the cars get cheaper, the quality of the owners start to diminish as well.

I have noticed this in the past 2-3 years on the board and it's very sad to see.
wow, that is one hell of a narrow minded comment. Just because a younger or not as wealthy crowd is starting to buy these car the whole community goes down?? Does money and the ability to buy a new $30k sports car make you a better member of this group?

I'll admit it, i'm young (20) and i bought my car used, but I worked my ass off for this car. I saved for years to own this car, what $20k to me is like $75k to you. I love this car, I've dreamed of owning one of these for years, and now that I own one I'm going to take damn good care of it. I was hoping that this community was different for the rest of the Honda crowd, I was hoping that everyone would just accept other owners and just enjoy owning what they have. A comment like that is the reason why I don't plan to become super active here, I'm just going to come on here get the info i need and thats it.

It's not only that elitiest idealology that sucks about s2k owners, but it's the whole "honda" mindset that comes out in the owners of these cars. Like honestly what is the point of the whole "JDM bling" bs. What justifies spending thousands of dollars on something just because of the brand name. It seems like no one here is a real car person, just a bunch of wannabes who have a big bank account and want to seem like they're "tuners" by sticking the most expensive intakes and exhaust on they're car.

I come from owning MR2's, and it is not only common to wave to another owner, but there are many time people have chased after another mr2 just to talk to the owner. And thats what this board, and all s2k owners seem to be missing. Yeah you and the other guy driving down the road could be 100% oppisite, but you still share (or at least I hope they do) the same love for a car, so that makes one similarity. I think this car lures people who just want to look cool, get some poon, or have "street cred" with the other local faux street racer wannabes. It seems the owners are missing the passion for the automobile they drive, knowing it's strengths and weaknesses, not being afraid to work on the car and learn it.

I could go on, but i feel like i'm just typing to deaf ears (even though it makes no sense). I guess I just have an old school car guys soul trapped in a young persons body.

ending rant

Okay i have had this car for about 4 months and i love it. Its a lot of fun... everyone says it, but the real deal is that it is just a fun car, like a toy to me. Anyhow I used to own a C5 Corvette and let me tell you... the message board was not filled with so much hate against their own cars. What i mean by this is the simple fact that i am a car lover... i didnt buy this car because i love Honda, but that does not mean that i bought it because i don't care. People come on this form a lot and start to diminish the car... why? Why are you on this form then? Everyone knows arleady this car isnt made for the drag strip and that its made for road courses and having a lil fun. That said this car is completely capable of making it on a drag strip. I am a car enthusiast and i like the fact that if i want to own a bright yellow S2000 and be happy with it then i can. And i also like the fact that i can go on to this form and talk about it. What i don't like is people that just bash on this car...why? Our cars are more formable then a lot of cars out on the road. What does a mustang cobra or Evo stand by you every 2 minutes on trafic or something and beat the gravy out of you? THis is why the car is not worthy as a sports car? Im sorry but owning this car to me is a priveldge to myself. I could be stuck with a Hyundia Elantra GT as a sports car. Not that there is anything wrong with owning that car, but like i said this is the s2000 form, not the i dont really like this car for any thing form. Have some more respect for our cars... because its not the 1/4 mile times, road course times, bodystyling, interior room, torque, or 4 more cylinders that its missing.... Its missing SOME respect.

Put it in the Special car class, Roadster, Convertible, 4 banger, RWD... what ever... would you rather own another roadster... if so then go ahead... but don't complain about the S like that either.

By the way how come most people don't wave or are even freindly on the road. I don't see that many s2000 here in orlando. I have only gotten 1 wave from a old timer. I like the wave.
I sold my vette and bought an S2000. I COMPLETELY understand what you are saying. For the most part, there are good guys on this forum, but this forum certainly has its share of smart alecs and immaturity.
