look at consumer reports. you have nothing to worry about if you don't mod it heavily

How many people with perfectly good running S2000s would take the time to post up a NON-problem?

OH WAIT! When asked, they do:

The s2k is one of the most trouble free, high performance sports cars you can get for the money. yes there are not perfect, but customer satisfaction is very high with this car. go for it.

XVIPER you are absolutely right. After reading the link I think I should apologize for even starting this thread! I'm not doubting the S, I didn't want to come across that way. I'm of the opinion that Hondas are the most reliable vehicle you can buy, for the most part.

A little off topic, but since I have a Chevy truck right now I can't wait for the Ridgeline to start blowing the domestic trucks away in resale and reliability.

i think a potential buyer is correct in asking owners if they have had issues with the car, this forum is informative and fun to participate in. what i have learned here has given me even more enjoyment of my car.

that being said, my 2004 has not been to the dealer except for it's first service...nothing...nothing...has gone wrong, and it all works right...i have 15,000 miles and 18 months of ownership experience and the car has been like every other honda product i have owned, trouble free . i also want to add that the car has been fun and challenging and i am still excited to get in an drive it every day.

since my kids are driving i have lost the regular use of my sedan, so the S is a daily driver for me. i recommend it once you have taken a test drive you can choose for yourself...

now it is possible to get a lemon with any car...i have owned two miatas, my 1990 was a gem, honda like in every way reliability wise...my 2001 was a real problem car...complete new engine, three clutches, two sets of brakes, gas tank...etc....etc...in less than 3 years and 25,000 miles, go figure?

There is absolutely no reason for you to apologize. Anyone spending this kind of money (second largest outlay of cash after a house) should ask questions and to anyone reading these forums, it can be alarming when you read all those threads about problems.
All I can say is that if you are after a used S2000, be diligent and get the proper thorough inspections done. You just never know if the car has been beat on or if it just happens to be a "lemon".

Before I purchased my 05 S 5 months ago, I felt the same way after reading the boards. It seems that people with problems post looking for help or just venting while the the vast majority without any problems simply keep driving along.

I cross shopped other makes/models (350ZR, G35 Couple, Z4, Vette, Boxster to name just a few) and after reading those boards, the same feeling can be felt when reading about problems.

Well, here it is, 5 months and 8,500 miles later and not one problem. Aside from oil and rear diff fluid change(s), the S has been 100% reliable (knock on wood). Hence, if you like the S, go for it! Good luck.

no issues here i'm in a my00 with 38k. i bought it at 27k and got the 30k service done at honda. at first i was paranoid too thinking i had the gear problems and the soft clutch problems and my differential was going to explode at any second. once i got used to driving the car i realized that its just a twitchy feeling car and everything was actually running smoothly.

just get one

then relax and enjoy
