S2000 to Prius

S2000 to Prius
After driving the s2000 for over a year as a daily driver I might want to get into something more practical
A Prius is on the mind...
Reasons our
-4 seats instead of 2
-no more premium gas cost.
-save over $1000 on gas alone annually according to how much o spend now
-save about $279 annually on car insurance
-51+ plus mpg
-more space and leg room.
What do you guys think? I love the s2k but it might be time for change. I'm willing to give up the thrills for the practicality.
I know the Prius isn't the prettiest car, or sportiest but it does get to point a to b more efficiently.
I have an offer though a dealership, am I making a mistake?

My suggestion would be a 90s Honda Civic. I have one and while it doesn't get the mileage of a Prius I still average around 37MPG in the city, plus it will be significantly less expensive to insure, maintain and purchase then a Prius.

A 96-00 hx could do about 45-50 mpg combined and it costs less than 5k in perfect shape. Don't be suckered into how much money you'll save with a Prius. You'll spend over $30,000 to save $1300 per year. Do the math. It's not a good idea. Plus, the Civic will last longer and parts are by far more available.

I have a 97 HX as my daily driver. I've had the car for 10 years and I'm getting kinda tired of it but the mpg are too good that nothing else really compares so I can't justify getting rid of it, haha.
Due to crappy gas mixtures, my car needing a tune up, and me driving above 70 on the highway I've been getting around 34-36 mpg (highway & city driving with a/c sometimes). On a road trip I've gotten around 44-48 on strictly highway. I have no doubt I would get more if I could keep my foot out of it.
While its not a cool, luxurious car it does the job and is less embarrassing than a Prius... plus like they said, parts are easy to come by (although some things are HX specific that are a PIA to find), and you won't spend a bunch of money to buy and maintain one. Plus it's a Honda so if you take care of it, it will last FOREVER.
