S2000 Quality
The SUV did not use signals, but the S going at 95mph wasn't exactly "innocent." In fact, even if the SUV had signaled, he probably would not have seen the S2K coming up on him...much like you almost didn't.
He was driving quick, and did a damn good job of saving several other cars from being involved in the accident. He was driving fast, but was being a good driver at those speeds.

... I have seen a MB S500 hit the rail like that (at around 100), and it opened up like a tin can (then flipped many, many times)..... no one survived that one....

I wouldn't want to drive in front of you.
It seems like you somehow was cursed to see two major accidents in person. It doesn't sound too good, you know.Back to the subject, I think it is the X bone structure which make our cars so solid.
Just my 2 cents.
Actually, in a wreck, you want soft & hard...you want the trunk & engine bay area to be crushable to absorb the impact while keeping an extremely rigid cabin area to protect the occupants.
The fact that Honda created something like this in a convertiable format -- is an engineering feat.

Many people had VERY serious accidents that walked away.
The Berlina driver is going to be mostly at fault, and you're the witness against him! When you say he was screaming by you at 95, that doesn't bode well for liability even if the SUV failed to signal a lane change. If the SUV didn't stop after the accident, I assume that he's committed at least a misdemeanor under Florida law, but that doesn't mean he was at fault for the accident. Even you said you didn't see the Berlina coming. I like to drive fast too, but you've got to anticipate stuff like people not seeing you in a small car and lane changes without a signal. Plus, if this guy is going to drive almost 100 mph on a highway with slower moving vehicles, he should learn not to overcorrect his steering in an emergency. The guy took a risk and lost. He and his passenger are lucky to be alive.
