...... The theory was something like that Grand Am was getting lots of money from Mazda and none from Honda so didn't want the competition.

American Honda effed up when the CR was released;they should of developed an all CR series much like Ford did with the Mustang FR500
Or something like Porsche has been doing with the Porsche Cup
...as usual the powers in Torrance have their heads up their a$$
I'm watching the koni challenge right now on speed... some of you guys say its because that the s2k is under powered? I'm seeing civics/rsx's here against all those other guys. (porsche, bmw, miata, etc) I always wondered about this...

It would be so nice and I would consider ponying up for a CR if I knew there was factory support. Why is the S2000 not SCCA Speed Touring class eligeable? It would seem to fall perfectly in that catagory as it starts with roughly the same hp as the 3series bimmers, granted at a little less weight.
I remeber Realtime campaigning (and winning IIRC) the GT championship with a supercharged NSX, but I think other teams protested the use of the blower and that was that. I saw that thing at RA during NSXPO 01 with Cunningham giving rides for the Red Cross. You could here it comign out of the carousel standing in the pits - amazing sound. Funny how the west coast S2k guys have to run a blower to be competitive in there class as well. Maybe this is a reoccuring theme with Honda - they build an incredible chassis with a super efficient motor that falls somewhere in between classes without either handicaping iot or going FI
