So you shifted (or released the clutch) in the middle of the turn? The first time I got sideways was when I shifted hard from 1st to second on an onramp... ...and it was dry... what I learned? never shift hard in a steep turn... or remotely hard in a turn if its wet... (Rev matching helps a lot too)
So true, and the S is an easy car to rev match with. Clutch pop will break traction, either way, unless I were at a TRack or messing around I wouldnt downshift in a turn....

yes.. it's driver's error.

Now that I come to think about it, I think i released my clutch before I started turning. I was at 2nd gear already but I pushed the car way too much while turning I think.

but yea.. man wet road can be real slippery...

I wouldn't say the S2000 is dangerous. It sounds like you are dangerous. Good luck in your progression as a driver and be safe.

you are not a good driver yet. take a driving course or something so you learn how to rev match. at the very least you should generically blip the throttle before downshifting so that the revs fall, rather than fly up (blip throttle = revs up to 4,000 RPM, clutch out, revs fall to 3,500 or something to that nature, rather than clutch in, downshift, clutch out without throttle blip = tach goes from 1,000 to 3,500 RPM in an instant).

i'm definitely chill. i just think that if the kid learned how to drive a five speed '98 civic first, he wouldn't have had this problem. if you drop the clutch mid-shift and mid-corner in that car, it won't be spinning out onto the other side of the road/into another car/into an 18 wheeler/into a median/into a pedestrian/etc.

So after reading countless posts about people getting into serious accidents and seeing many experienced drivers saying how S can be so dangerous to drive if not being cautious, I never was really able to understand why til this morning. In many "what car should I buy" threads I see people not recommending the new owner or people of young age to own S for their first time, but I was always on the side of suggesting them to just buy and drive carefully. I guess now I wouldn't recommend them anymore. I'm 21st and S is my first manual car. I consider myself as a pretty safe driver and I never really pushed S hard. This morning I was going to work as usual (also raining as usual...). I came to the usual 90-degree intersection. It's an uphill turn and occasionally I find myself not giving enough rpm, so today I pushed a little, released my clutch, lost control of rear and swiped right into the opposite lane. I know it may not be that of a big deal since I managed to gain the control but I was just so glad there was no single car in the other lane (because MOST of the time there are) otherwise I'm gonna have my S in autoshop and no way I would be able to do well for the upcoming exam. Just wanted to share this with you guys. I should listen more to the advices of experienced drivers from now on.
I had 30 years or more of autocrossing under my belt when I bought the S2000, and I bought it because it presented a challenge that I felt would make me a better driver. It's a car that makes small mistakes instantly obvious, so it's great car to use to hone one's skills. At the same time, the number of spins and spin related accidents we see here on S2kI pretty much proves that the cars unforgiving nature causes lots of people lots of grief. I think you're more at risk if you never push the car hard, becuase if you never push it, you don't learn the limits, and if you don't know the limits they can sneak up on you.

Autocrossing the car and/or attending schools like Evolution are cheap and easy ways to learn the cars limits, and fun to boot. Not that it will prevent a spin if one drives on worn out tires in the rain, but this is a car you need to know before you get into trouble rather than after.

The good news here is that this wasn't more serious.
