S2000 rear defroster - needed?
Wow. Its been so long since I've stepped foot into S2ki. Needless to say there's been some major changes on the forums, and in my life too!
I'm currently back in the market for an S2000. Right now I own an '03 G35 coupe and an '08 IS350; spring is around the corner and I need something that's fun and will keep my sanity intact. I'm in the talks with trading someone for their '01 S2000 (Spa Yellow w/ a little bit of goodies; 36k mi.) for my G35 (some aesthetic mods, 99k mi.; cash on my end).
My main concern is I live in the Bay Area, so mist coating the entire car overnight is almost certain each day, every day throughout the year. In the morning, the first thing I do after turning on the car is hitting the rear defrost button. Since 2000-2001 models have the plastic windows which aren't equipped with the defroster, this is somewhat of a letdown, and maybe even a decision-breaker.
However I've spoke with a few people who own/who've owned small roadsters (mainly Miatas, a few Z3s here and there) and they say roadsters in general are so small the heater inside quickly defrosts the window. Is this true? I've also gotten "plastic windows repel mist better than glass windows so it doesn't accumulate" (not sure how viable this one is) and "just wipe the window with your hand before you get in the car" (okay I guess, but I'd prefer not to). What's you guys take?
Thanks for the feedback. I looked forward to being a part of the community again.

Never had a big issue with my plastic window and fogging up or anything. I just swapped it out for a glass window top however. For $400 you can buy a top and install yourself or pay a local probably around $400 to do the install for you. Definitely worth it just to get rid of the hideous plastic window! Good luck getting back into an S!
