My 01 has 55k on it with no issues whatsoever. I always felt that Honda wouldn't want to run the risk of ruining their long life expectancy reputation by producing a sports car that implodes before 100k. If anything, they probably over built the S2000 motor. Most drivers are apt to drive their cars more like it was an Accord than a full bore race car so I'd expect 150-200k to be no problem. There is one guy on these boards who currently has over 170k on his.

the key things are being sure the maintenance is done and making sure that the car has enough oil.

It would be wise to have a mechanic inspect the valvetrain for cupped retainers, which are signs the car has been overrevved. Jiffy lube guys can't do this, I'm talking a REAL mechanic. The valve cover needs to be removed but that is not much work.

Absolutely beautiful, congratulations and enjoy. I would put a few things at the top of my list. The retainer inspection as Steven mentioned (which is easy to do yourself) and while you are in there, make sure you have the upgraded spark plugs (they were changed some time in 2002 so you may already be in good shape). Both of these are engine killers and inexpensive if in need of maintenance. Beyond that check you oil often, maintain tire pressures, be careful in the rain, and don't skip gears (all long stories, just trust me on these). Oh, and visit S2KI often, it is the best thing you can do for the car. Have fun and welcome.

"Very" nice indeed!

I can remember seeing "one" Berlina w/red interior at my local dealer back when I was drooling over the car and not being able to afford it yet.

Congrat & have Fun!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

The s2k is rated as one of, if not the most reliable sports car out there in most surveys. Just take care of it and she'll get you home.
