I saw a post about 6-7 months ago in which one of the UK's car magazines tested appx. 150 cars for reliability and driver satisfaction. S2 came first in both categories

Congrats dude! It's all good in the 'hood with my '02 at over 88k miles, so I wouldn't worry too much. There are a few local guys that have well over 100k still doing fine also.

Thanks, the car is in great shape. How do I know if I've got the upgraded spark plugs, do they look different somehow? Also about the cupped retainers, any more detail on that so I can know what I'm looking for. I've got no prob pulling off the valve cover but beyond that I'm a little lost on this motor. And sorry but this is the last question, but why is it bad to skip gears? I do it often, it's how I've always driven stick cars. Thanks again, Erik

Most of the things that the guys are pointing out were done as part of a TSB (technical service bulletin). The S2000's never actually been recalled as far as I know.

I would think that if an authorized dealer has done the work, it's been documented in Honda's database. If that's true, all you'd need to do is take the car to the local dealer and have them run the VIN through their computer. It should show up there!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

I remember that article. They did an owner survey of something like 167 different vehicles and the S2000 came in first. The honor of dead last went to Mercedes-Benz ML320.

Some thought I was nuts for buying a high-strung sports car with 79K on it...but its a Honda...they have built enough high-RPM screaming engines by now that the most likely know what they are doing. My clutch feels A LOT firmer than the clutch in a 02 with 35K on it that a very good friend of mine owns...and that in itself makes me feel very good about my purchase.

apex2k,

Why do you suggest not skipping gears? I've had my 05 for 3 months and am wondering since it is too easy to skip gears at times.
