I was reading the thread about the S2k's reliability, and figured a poll was in order. Please take into account your particular situation when voting, i.e. don't say your car is a turd in the reliability department if you've got a twin-turbo setup with a 200 hp shot of nitrous putting 800 hp to the ground, and the car only hits the track on days that end in "y."

I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of S2k owners will concur that it is "Honda reliable."

So far (over two years and nearly 25K miles), so good.

If you will notice this is just a small sampling of the S2000 owners and the general consensus shows that almost all are more than satisfied with the S 2000. This should answer alot of unanswered question for those that think the auto is not so reliable.

It is a very reliable auto and is not plagued with the number of problem that are displayed on numerous occasions. It has to do with your style of driving and how much abuse you give it. So you can see the results. This is a good thread to demonstrate the accurate and general consensus of the owners. Not the over emphasised problematic situations that some owners are having.

Cheers

Jeff

Only 4300 miles and one track day so far, but it's been perfect. No excessive oil burning, no 2nd gear crunch, nothing. I broke it in gently and put in Mobil 1 at 3600 miles.

My '97 CRV and '91 & '86 CRX Si's have been extremely reliable also. The '86 went 177,000 miles with literally nothing more than a new radiator (well, timing belts, tires and brake pads, too). Still ran like new at the end.

I've had a couple of niggles but nothing to get too stressed about.

I'm afraid my car has a reliability rating in the cellar.
(Broken in gently, no engine mods, clutch drops, racing or other abuse just lots of highway time)

2nd gear grind in hot weather since day one
In shop 9/00-10/00
A/C compressor failure at 7000 miles (3 weeks in shop)
Seat belt fix/leaking VTEC solenoid (2 more weeks)
Differential noise at 12K

In shop 8/7/01
Clutch TSB (successful) at 24K
Grind TSB (failed to solve problem) at 24K
Differential leak discovered/ noise repair declined pend further testing
Out of shop for three weeks in September (Road trip to Indy F1)

Re-enter shop early October to present
Tranny service at 27K (solved grind)
Diffy bearing/seal replacement (failed)
Diffy rebuild attempt and eventual replacement in progress

Net result
nearly 5 long months in shop during 16 months of ownership

svann - if there was a lemon law in your state - you should have pursued that. That does not sound right.
